I adore this recipe! As a sweet potato fan in a home of those who loathe it - I was reluctant to try this recipe - but, it's OH SO GOOD! The taste/flavor is more like a sweet potato pie, but adding the eggs seems to soften the potato texture so white potato fans don't feel like they are eating the "other potato". I made this list year for Thanksgiving along with regular ole mashed and this year - this will be my only tato on the table.... thank you so much!

This is the best sweet potato side dish recipe for Thanksgiving! Been making this for the past 7 years and everyone always asks for me to make. Recommend 2x or 3x the pecan mixture for the topping. When mixing, use a hand or standing mixer. It will ensure all ingredients are evenly blended.

This is probably the best sweet potato casserole my family has ever tasted. My mom put me in charge of sweet potato casserole last Thanksgiving. I found this recipe and used it. She requested it again for Christmas...and again this Thanksgiving. The only change I would make is to cut back on the white sugar. I use 1/4 cup instead of 1/2. Yummy yummy yummy!!!

I expected this to be so good, but was disappointed. This dish should go on the dessert table; way too much sugar, and I cut the sugar by half in the yam mixture! The baked consistency was oddly dry. Won't make this one again.

forgot to say add the rum before cooking and it gives it a great flavor after it's done

YUM!! Way too much sugar, though. We used 1/3 the recommended sugar and just half the butter. It was still decadent. Save yourself the calories.

This was a major hit with the family on thanksgiving. We have a nut allergy in the family thought, so I turned the topping into a crumple by swapping the nuts for oats and adding a little bit more butter to the mix, everyone loved it!

My son hates sweet potatoes, but gave this recipe a 20 on the 1-5 scale. I think he liked it ;) My husband had 3rds. Thank you!

I have been making different sweet potato dishes for decades. I can now say I have found my permanent one. I made this with 6 medium/smallish yams - the reddish fleshed sweet potato ;) The only change I made was to use brown sugar instead of white in the main body of the casserole. I did not double the crumble topping as some others have done, but I did use a 9x9 baking dish instead of the 9x13 recommended. This gave a smaller surface area and I had more than enough topping to fully cover the casserole in a thick layer of yummy goodness. My son who used to like sweet potatoes in the past but who had decided he no longer did was convinced with some urging to at least give this a try ... he did and when we were cleaning up he made a point of making sure the sweet potato leftovers in particular were handled properly to ensure he'd get to have some more the next day ;) I'd say without a doubt this was a winner.

This will become a regular occurance at our family suppers. Delicious. I had a hard time peeling and mashing the sweet potatoes after only 35 min in the over. I found they weren't cooked nearly enough. I would put them in for much longer next time, or even peal and boil them.

I made half the recipe using 3 boiled sweet potatoes, but made the full amount of topping. Followed the rest of the recipe exactly. The topping was great! I wish the sweet potato mixture was creamier. Will add more cream/butter next time, but very yummy recipe!

I used this recipe on Thanksgiving for the first time and then several times since-very good and rich. I omit the pecans-not a nut fan. and put in ramkins with mini-mellows on top and brown with my torch. Presentation is great. Thanks
