Old Fashioned Spice Pie

This easy pie looks like pumpkin but tastes like apple. This pie has a "secret" ingredient! If you'd like a little more punch to your pie, add two tablespoons of cocoa or chopped nuts.

This pie is delicious! I got the recipe from my husband's mother. She is French so I believe this is a French Meat Pie. Beef, pork, and potato are all nicely spiced and baked into a pie. It's yummy and pretty easy to make too! Best served fresh, but you can also make ahead and freeze or refrigerate.

Raisins are plumped in water, and brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, vinegar and butter are stirred in. The filling is poured into a pastry shell, covered with a top crust, and baked in a hot oven for 30 minutes. Cool and serve with ice cream.

Filling Meat Pie

Submitted by: Ciara Neill
This is a robust meat and veggie pie that would make a delicious offering for company. Cubes of beef are sauted in oil until crusty brown, then they are combined with corn and green beans, and spooned into an unbaked crust. A thick, herb-infused sauce is then spooned over the filling, and the pie is baked until golden brown.

Good Chocolate Pie

Unsweetened cocoa gets a chance to shine in this marvelous pie. It 's stirred up with evaporated milk, eggs, butter, flour and cornstarch into a smooth, thick, and yummy filling. Chopped walnuts are sprinkled on top and the pie is baked until set and served chilled. This recipe yields two 9-inch pies.

A friend gave me this recipe after I had mentioned that my meat pies lacked 'punch'. The pie has a delicious, distinctive flavor thanks to lots of seasonings. Flecks of carrots peek out of each neat slice. My family especially enjoys this dinner when the weather turns chilly. -Paula L'Hirondelle, Red Deer, Alberta

Very Good Pie

All you 'll need to make this lovely pie is a quart of your favorite ice cream, a baked graham cracker crust and a great ice cream scoop. If you want to get a bit fancy, you can choose three different flavors of ice cream and layer them in the crust. Or you can sprinkle honey-roasted peanuts into the ice cream and pour fudge sauce over it all.

Old Fashioned Coconut Cream Pie

This quintessential coconut cream pie calls for lots of half-and-half that is cooked up with other tasty ingredients into a lavishly rich cream filling. Then the shredded coconut is stirred in and the filling is spooned into a waiting crust. Top with whipped topping and toasted coconut - if you dare.
