These could be ALL RECIPES best kept secret! They were VERY good! I did tweak a bit. I used half brown/half white for the sugar, and used heaping amount of all the spices. I had some crystallized ginger here so I chopped some and threw that in but they would be just as good without. Orange peel is a must. Watch your time in the oven to keep them soft. Thank you Donald for this keeper of a recipe.

Very delicious....watch the cooking time closely, if taken out at the right time they will stay soft for days (if they last that long!)The orange peel is a great addition, I also like extra spice so I doubled them....mmmmm

I was searching for a ginger-flavored cookie that didn't include decorating each and every gingerbread man because I chose to make several cookie varieties this holiday season. THESE WERE SURPRISINGLY PHENOMENAL! I'm surprised this recipe hasn't been reviewed as much as other cooki recipes. I love that the orange was subtle, and the spices weren't overly spice-y. They were soft and chewy for a few hours, but by the next day, they had hardened- even in an airtight container. I might try baking them for at a lower temp next time.

This is my favorite recipe!! I make them without the orange zest and use fresh ginger. They are easy to make and come out perfect every time.

DELICIOUS! these cookies are great! I would like to try adding fresh ginger next time in addition to the ground ginger, b/c although they were 'spiced' they were just not quite spicy enough. very moist and chewy though. mmm, I will definitely make these again.

This is the best cookie I have ever eaten. I believe the orange peel is the secret to these delicious cookies. The recipe is perfect as is. I do not like cloves so I was a bit skeptical. My eight and ten year old sons chose these over the chocolate chip cookies I had made earlier. I did bake them for 15 minutes because my German husband likes his cookies crunchy. They were still perfecly chewy on the inside. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe!!
