this was my first attempt at chutney...after making it following the recipe, i decided to double the amount of spices and also added 1/4 tsp of ground cloves...i just like it spicier....it came out awesome!!...never really had chutney although i heard of it...can't wait to serve it with cream cheese/crackers and with turkey, chicken and pork...thanks so much for the recipe!

I made this holiday season 2008 for all dinners, loved by everyone. Made great gifts also.

This was very good even though I messed it up! I could not get the liquid to boil down! It just started foaming eventually and I just added the fruit. Although mine was perhaps a tad soupy, the flavors were great! Everyone liked pear and cranberry combination. Note to others: do not substitute fresh ginger for ground ginger. You will not get the flavor. (I’m not sure why it says “Discard gingerroot” in the directions. Maybe you could throw some in beginning). Overall, beautiful presentation, great flavors! I will try it again!
