This one's a winner! It's delicious as is. However, I will try the additional steeping for stronger ginger flavour next time, and see how that goes. I like a *strong* ginger element. It's just fine as is -- more of a hint of ginger blended with the lemon. Definitely a hit in my household!

I reduced the sugar to 3/4c and used 1/2c honey as well. After I brought the sugar, ginger and water to the boil, I let it simmer for 15 min then steeped. This intensified the ginger flavour. This recipe is perfect for when you're feeling under the weather!

Great Recipe! I recommend letting the syrup "steep" with the ginger slices in itfor 4 hours as written to ensure a spicy-ade. I've been looking for this one for a while, because years ago my family used to buy carbonated ginger lemonade :) Just buy some dry ice from any store and put it directly into your cups to carbonate this yummy summer drink!

Ok this is really good. There is a restaurant here in Asheville that takes this further and even better. In a glass of ice pour a jjgger of vodka. Crush a couple of mint leaves and toss in. Pour over some of this ginger lemonade and then a dash of carbonated water. OMG!!! It is delicious, refreshing, goood!!!

Made this last summer, was very good, but I would cut back on the sugar next time by 1/3.

This is most excellent for sore throats. Add a little bourbon or rum and you'll feel even better!

Tried it, loved it! Made 2 batches and served at a party. Everyone loved it and most were curious as to what was so different about this particular lemonade. This is a keeper!

this recipe is fabulous with vodka added to it! i was looking for a good summery alcoholic beverage and decided to give this one a try. without the vodka i thought it was ok at best- i wasnt sure if it was too tangy or too sweet. but once i added the vodka to it it mellowed the taste out nicely. i added one shot of vodka per serving (so i put 20 shots of vodka in the batch)

only 4 stars because I cut the sugar to 1 1/2 cups and it was still way too sweet. Otherwise, a great drink. Next time I'll cut the sugar to only 1 cup and add more ginger.

The combination of ginger/lemon is great! The ginger adds a second level of flavor to a classic. I made this for a vegitarian pot luck I was invited to last minute, not being a vegitarian and not wanting to look uncultured showing up with spaghetti from a jar I whiped this up. It was a big hit with guests. I used concentrated lemon juice so before I served it I squeezed the lemon slices to hide some of the processed taste that concentrate has. It tasted great and no one noticed! I'll try it with fresh squeezed next time though.

Im not to sure about this one. I love ginger, but i found this to be kind of bitter and im not sure if the lemonjuice compliments it alright. Can't say i love it, can't say i hate it. will probabaly not make again.

I love this, but made one change which I feel is imperative - simmer lemon zest with the simple syrup and ginger - perfect!

I add more ginger than the recipe called for, and serve it mixed half and half with unsweetened tea

Ginger makes all the difference, and it is a good alternative to the traditional 'ade, but I didn't like the smell and found it a bit too sweet.

5 stars!!! This is so delicious!! I did cut down on the sugar some and added a little extra lemon juice. I cut the recipe in half but left the ginger the same. It is so good. If you've ever had Trader Joe's ginger lemonade (in their dairy case), this is just as good. My husband had fun helping me make this.

Great drink! I boiled about 3 of the cups of water with the ginger and sugar to make a simple syrup. I strained that, let it cool down, then mixed it in a pitcher with the lemon juice and the rest of the water. This made it easier since their was just one little pot. If you don't like things super sweet you may want to use more sugar. Or you could just add more lemon juice and water.

I used 2 cups sugar (I like my lemonade tart) and LOTS of ginger. I was really short on time, so used bottled lemon juice (I know, not as good) and subbed about 1 cup lime juice for 1 cup of the lemon. I thought it was great, but I took it to a cookout and although everyone was polite, I don't think they were as enthusiastic about it as I was... I ended up taking most of it back home, which was fine with me!

Wow. I loved this. I decreased the amount of sugar a bit because I like lemonade more tart than sweet, and used a veggie peeler to slice the ginger. The drink had just a hint of ginger. Very refreshing. I will definitely make this again. Here's a handy tip when juicing the lemons: have them at room temp and roll them on the counter before you cut them in half. The juice will come out a lot easier.
