I tried this recipe because 1) it looked so easy and 2) all the rave reviews. I guess if I'd never had homemade cookies I'd be impressed. If in a rush, spend the 15 minutes this recipe requires, drive to the store and buy some Pepperidge Farm!

Cooked these in a convection oven. I did not like how they turned out. The cookies didn't spread out and take a cookie shape. They were just ugly blobs, that looked like raw cookie dough. I am assuming that is more the oven than anything. Not a huge fan of convection. As for the flavor itself, I thought the german chocolate is too mild in chocolate flavor and that the cookies tasted like cake mix. On a positive note, they were quick and easy to put together. Luckily these were just for some kids that will eat a piece of cardboard if you tell them it is a cookie. :)

These are AMAZING! I left out the raisins - and I honestly can't imagine why anyone would want to put them in these cookies - but they were just delicious. I used Devil's Food cake mix, because it was all I had. They were the easiest cookies I've made in ages. I used my small cookie scoop and it made 40 cookies. I can't recommend this recipe enough!

Very Yummy! I didn't have raisins on hand so I substituted dried cranberries. I think they were even better than they would have been with raisins!

I had to make this for a class of fourteen kids, they loved it. It was amazing, although I took out the rasins because I don't like them.

I really enjoyed these! I forgot to add chocolate chips to the first batch and actually preferred them to the next batch when I added them in. (I frosted the backs with coconut pecan icing. Not pretty, but delicious--it may work to frost the backs and turn them into a sandwich cookie.)

I left out the raisins because I just don't care for them. These are the easiest cookies to make and always come out with the perfect chewiness. I have made them 3 times already, they are great!

Hubs had a serious sweet tooth tonight that needed instant satisfying and this turned out to be the perfect prescription. Working with what I had on hand, I used a chocolate cake mix, mixed berries because I didn't have any raisins (and that turned out to be a happy surprise), and old fashioned oats. As I always do with cake mixes, I also added a teaspoon of vanilla. The dough is soft, so I let it chill for an hour or so until somewhat firm. Because I made them with a large cookie scoop which is probably about 1/4 cup, these were very thick, substantial, "he-man" cookies. They were crispy on the edges, but fudgey on the inside, still gooey with the melted chocolate chips which coated the mixed berries like fine chocolate candy. The oatmeal provided the substance, the "glue" if you will, that held these together and gave them just a bit of a chew. And as it turned out, the dark chocolate cake mix paired beautifully with the dried mixed berries and chocolate chips. As hubs so eloquently put it, "Your first crunchy bite turns into this pleasant fudgey gooiness - they're just d*mn good!" Beautiful and delicious - and no one will ever suspect they began with a cake mix!

My mom gave me this recipe and it's delicious and Easy...what more could you ask! I make these for school functions, bake sales, to give away, or to keep for me and my kids. They aren't as rich as some cookies out there but people still love them! My son isn't too much into sweets and this is a cookie he requests often. Make with or without nuts and you can't go wrong.
