I made this for my brother's birthday and everyone loved it. My only complaint was that the icing was a little runny, so I just heated it up and spooned it over the cake as a sauce as I served it. Everyone thought that was how it was supposed to be. The icing did set up after I left it in the fridge for a while. Very good recipe!

This was incredible! So moist and rich, everyone loved it. Combines the best of two favorites, German Chocolate cake and cheesecake, what could be better. It was also easy to make. I doubled the frosting recipe and that was a bit too much. Actually my son made the cake and he read the recipe wrong and only put 1 cup of sugar in the cake and it was good.

My girlfriend made this for her grandmother's birthday, and it was a huge hit. Everyone loved it, and it was very easy to make. My girlfriend does not cook too often, and this was her first big cake to make. Great recipe.

OH. MY. GOSH. SO delicious! The balance between the chocolate and the cheesecake is just right and not at all overpowering. The frosting is to die for and easier to make than I anticipated. I would have taken a picture but I didn't have time! It was gobbled up immediately at a work potluck. Going in my favorite file for sure!

Exceptionally moist and delicious! The cheesecake was dry and firm, like we prefer. Made a great birthday cake! I used a 13" springform pan, and sprayed it lightly with canola oil cooking spray, and it pulled away from the top and sides nicely!

Excellent moist cake. It takes german chocolate cake one notch higher. The frosting is great. After I spread the frosting on top, I put it under the broiler for a few minutes. It made the frosting a little crispy and it was awesome.

It was good, especially the frosting. I did feel like using a boxed cake mix for the rest of the german chocolate effect may have taken away from it. It was more like german chocolate cake, with a bonus layer of plain cheesecake. I've been searching for a recipe for german chocolate cheesecake, where the entire thing is german-chocolate flavored cheesecake; the Cheesecake Factory used to make this and we loved it, but they discontinued it :(

This cake was fabulous. My husband wanted German Chocolate cake for his birthday dinner. This recipe took it a little further and he loved it. So did the rest of his family. I must admit I ate 3 pieces of it myself.

This was fabulous! It took a lot of prep but well worth it. I didn't realize how important it was to constantly stir the frosting while it is cooking. It burned a little on the bottom but it still turned out great and no one could tell. This was my gift to my father for Father's Day and it was loved by everyone. It does take a lot of eggs though. I will be making this again!

I made this for work - everyone loved it and wanted the recipe. I didn't make the frosting - I just used a can of Pillsbury coconut pecan frosting. It was delicious!

Sinful, decadent and not for the health conscious! I have made a lot of cakes from this site and thought I had come up with some winners, but my husband declared this one the best one so far.

This cake is incredible! I have made it a couple times and it always gets rave reviews. I wish it weren't so sinful (loads of eggs, sugar, cream cheese, etc. - and the ingredients can be a little pricey, too) because I would definitely make it more often. The only change I have ever made was to use walnuts instead of pecans once and it still tasted great.

HUGE HIT! All the doctors I work with request this at LEAST once per month! I have co-workers that have said they hate German Chocolate Cake, but LOVE this one! It's definitely a MUST MAKE! And you HAVE to use the frosting recipe, boughten just doesn't do it!

Very good cake. I was hoping for more of a cheesecake center though. The cheesecake basically gave the cake moisture and flavor.
