Delicious flavor and texture. You need to eat this within a couple of days or it starts to get gooey. I guess that could be a good thing.... but not for cake.

Wonderful! This was my first attempt at making an apple cake and it came out perfect! The only change I made was to use 1/2 cup applesauce and 1/2 cup oil. Applesauce tends to make my cakes moist. My co-workers raved about this!

WOW! This is delicious, moist cake. I live in 'Apple Country' so I searched for many recipes to use all my apples. This is my favorite. I follow the recipe exactly. There is no need to change a already perfect recipe! My only 'issue' is that this cake is SO moist that it does get soggy after just a few days. So my suggestion is to either many sure that you have enough people in the house to eat it quickly, share with your friends and neighbors or this is a great cake to take to get-together.

I made this for a German themed potluck and it got rave reviews; the three people from Germany all said it tasted German! The only change I made was to use half applesauce for the oil; I also needed to bake it for ~8minutes extra.

I followed the recipe exactly and topped with a caramel sauce. The cake is excellent. My husband even said it might replace his beloved coconut birthday cake which takes hours to make!! I'll be very happy if it does!

I SO badly wanted to love this cake! It just turned out a bit...flavorless! Perhaps the granny smith apples I used didn't give it enough flavor? I followed the recipe exactly as written and I'm so sad that I can't give this one 5 stars! I plan to try it again though because I'm determined to make a delicious Apple Cake!

I went exactly by the recipe, and this cake is fabulous! It's even better the next day, being very moist and not too sweet. Next time I bake one, I'm going to do a bit of experimenting, using only three apples and adding either walnuts or pecans.

Oh my gosh, this was good! I got more compliments on this cake than I have ever gotten on any other cake I've made. It is SO moist! I made it exactly as specified in the recipe this time. Next time, I will most definitely add either pecans or walnuts. But even without nuts, this cake is amazing.

Used 1/2 wheat flour, egg substitute, 1/2c unsweetened applesauce in place of half the oil, 1 1/2 cup sugar rather than the 2 cups called for.

This was very good. Next time I think I will use a LOT more apples. I didn't even get to eat that much b/c the bf devoured it!

This brings back sweet memories of my late mom, who used to make it. Her recipe calls for 1 cup nuts and only 3/4 cup oil. It's still very moist. I love the different textures of the apples and nuts. Good cake!

I made this over the weekend for a family gathering. It was moist and delicious. I used a 10" tube pan to bake it in and added walnuts. Everyone loved it! I made a smaller loaf version for those who don't like nuts, it went fast as well. I would give this more than five stars if I could. Thanks for a great apple cake recipe that I and my family will be enjoying frequently.

Great recipe! I did make some changes that I thought made it even better- Changed sugar to 1C white, 1C Brown, made it 5C Apples and 2 tsp vanilla. Perfect with just powdered sugar!

Smelled great baking and tasted good. Crispy top and very moist. Not really a cake texture, more like a very light bread pudding. Made exactly as written and thought it too sweet. Next time will try 1 c white sugar, 1/2 c brown sugar. Also think pecans would add great texture and flavor. Didn't think it was amazing, but will make it again bc was tasty and easy.

I dont know what happened but the bottom of mine was very soft and mushy but it turned out to be a good thing. The batter is really thick and it actually broke my mixer so I dont suggest trying to use a hand mixer for this one. But in the end it was delicious. One of my roommates apparently woke up at 2 in the morning just to eat more of it. It was gone by morning. when i made this recie the second time the inside still didnt cook so i kept it in longer thinking that would help but it just ended up becoming hard.

This is great. Good taste, nice and moist with a good texture. This is not a fancy cake, something you might have with tea or as a bunch item.

Awesome! If you use icing - employ the "less is more" philosophy. The cake speaks for itself. Either use confection sugar or drizzle icing on. Great Cake!
