Dad's Peach Ice Cream

'MY DAD was the ice cream maker at our house. We had an old-fashioned freezer that had to be cranked by hand, and he took great delight in turning the handle until the ice cream was just right! With the addition of fresh fruit that he picked in a nearby orchard, this was a very special treat.'

My mom's summer dessert! So easy and fast to make. A vanilla meringue base with pecans is topped with sliced peaches and whipped cream. Make it early in the day; the longer the peaches sit on the crust the better!!!

Peach Cream Pie II

A mixture of flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar is sprinkled in the bottom of a prepared pie shell. Sliced peaches are piled in, and more sugar is sprinkled on top. Heavy cream is then poured over the peaches, and this heavenly pie is baked until the peaches are tender.

Peach Dumplings

My dad used to make the best Peach Dumplings. Some people make them with a bread dough. My Dad made his with a potato dough. The peach was wrapped in the dough and dropped into boiling water to cook. When they were served you would cut them up and sprinkle them with crushed vanilla wafers, sugar and melted butter. We ate them as a meal even though they sound like a desert. Again, different ways to serve them my friend's mother sprinkled hers with ricotta cheese and sugar.
