Just like almost everyone that has reviewed this recipe, I had never cooked a prime rib before and was so nervous. Especially when one of our guests said, "You are just now putting that in the oven. You know those take like 5 hours!". I explained the recipe that I was following and said we will see. This is just incredible, incredible, incredible! I followed the recipe exactly with mouth watering results. Use this recipe when you want to "wow" someone with your mad cooking skills.

Absolutely incredible. I followed the recipe as described. I took the prime rib out of the oven at 125, and tented it with alumnium foil until the temperature reached 145. The meat was a perfect medium rare. This recipe was so good that I made it twice this weekend!

Great recipe! I've made this 3 times for my entire extended family. Everyone loves it. I do add the garlic rub the day before and usually takes a little longer to cook than the recipe states. Thanks!

Can't rave enough about this recipe. Everyone loved it, the first and second time I made it. And super easy-not at all what I imagined cooking prime rib to be. Thanks for the great recipe!

I have never made prime rib and was nervous it would not turn out right. I followed the original recipe but omitted thyme. Husband doesn't like thyme. The kitchen smelled amazing with all the garlic. It was so delicious and our 8 other guests agreed as well. I would definitely make again.

This Christmas I decided to make prime rib for the first time. My whole family was just delighted in how delicious this recipe was. The directions were simple enough for a first time user. After trying this recipe, I don't think I need to try any others. It was perfect!

Had a 6lb rib, let it sit out for about an 1 hr, followed the recipe for the 10 lb rib. Took about 3 hrs for my therm to reach 160 for medium done. The meat was soft but some spots were still red. Next time may try and cook a little longer because I do not like to see any red in my meat. Tasted good where I seasoned it but some middle areas did not have any flavor. Everyone else didn't have any comments except that it was good.

Wow, this is wonderful! Used a smaller 3 lb roast, cooked 10 min at 460 degrees, then 10 min at 400 degrees, then about 20 min/lb until roast was 130 because my husband likes it rare in the center. If I make it for company, I might take it out at 135 so the center isn't as rare. Thanks for the recipe. I plan for this to be our next Christmas dinner.

I used a 5.88 pound prime rib and followed another user's suggestions on cooking 460 degrees for 12 minutes, 425 for 8 minutes and 70 minutes at 325 degrees. Mine came out medium and perfect at 145 degrees, not too much pink. I used extra garlic (the premade stuff in the jar) fresh thyme and rosemary (for the 10 pound recipe) but I only found it got in the way, when people were taking bites they had to pull it out of their teeth. Such rave reviews! If I have an extra $50 bucks lying around I will definetely make this again!

An absolutely beef-tastic recipe! I never cooked a roast of any kind before and I could not believe how wonderful it turned out. I liked that the ingredients were simple and the roast took no effort to prepare. I will make this again!

This recipe did not dissapoint. My son is a Marine and he and some of his fellow Marines wanted prime rib at home before they were deployed in October. I bought a $120 prime, so I was counting on this recipe! I am not an experienced prime rib cook to say the least! Thanks, your recipe and instructions saved me (and the rib) and helped to make three Marines very happy!

We love garlic but this was just too much for us. The garlic seems to be a little bitter after roasting. We cooked to 140 and it was still raw. Next time I will cook to recommended temp.

I followed the suggestions about cook time especially since I had a smaller cut about 3 lbs. I still had to cook it about 20-25 min longer on the lower setting before it was to a medium. Most of my family thought that the medium rare was way too rare and I needed to go up temperature of 150 at least.
