Garlic Parmesan Orzo
SUBMITTED BY:
Stephanie Moon
"The buttery pasta dish calls for orzo, which cooks quickly and is a nice change from ordinary pasta shapes. 'This fantastic recipe was inspired by a similar dish I once tried,' Stephanie says. 'It makes a superb side dish anytime. The garlic and Parmesan cheese really stand out.'"

One of the few recipes that you can confidently prepare with no tweaking or changes necessary. It's creamy and delicious with a subtle Parmesan flavor. This would be an appropriate side dish for almost any meat or seafood. A definite "make again" recipe. Simply perfect.

This is a great recipe, however, it seems there is a typo in the ingredient list....it should read 1/4 tsp. pepper, NOT 1/4 C.

This is pretty good. I added more cheese because we like cheese but omitted the salt because I thought the cheese would be salty enough. Turns out I was wrong. It definately needs salt. I bet this would be great with chicken parm.

This was almost restaurant quality. I made some changes to reduce the fat. Instead of using butter, I sprayed the pan with butter flavored spay and poured some liquid fat-free butter spray into the pan. The garlic sauteed just fine. The end result was great. It wasn't as creamy as I would have liked, but that was due to the butter substitutes. I don't mind giving up a little creaminess for getting rid of all that fat.

Wow, this is going in my recipe box! We tried it tonight, and it was awesome. I added some sauteed shrimp that I had, along with a handful of green peas for color and texture. DELISH. This took me under 30 minutes the first time I made it - pretty good for a weeknight! PLENTY of leftovers for lunch the next day. The sauce is basically an alfredo sauce. This is like "grown-up mac & cheese." It's that creamy and addictive! Add a nice glass of white wine if you like, a crisp green salad and a loaf of crusty bread with olive oil for dipping... MMMM, instant weeknight gourmet.

Very good. I added onion, and a bit of cheddar cheese since I didn't have enough Parmesan. Worked well. Easy, fun, and tasty. What else is there to ask for? Thanks.

I didn't happen to have milk the day I made this, so I used some sour cream. OH MY GOD! It was so creamy, my boyfriend thought it was rissotto.

Great taste. I have made before with broth but the milk is better. I cooked the orzo several hours before and than added to the butter and garlic to reheat in a non - stick pan. Served with pesto cheesy chicken rolls (this site) as another reviewer of the rolls suggested and it was an awesome combination.
