This has quickly become my go-to mashed potato recipe (where, to be honest, I never actually had made mashed potatoes, but am a huge fan). It's so fast and easy and tasty and I always have the ingredients on hand, so it's not like I'm making a special trip to the grocery for half and half or cream cheese or something else to make the spuds rich and creamy. They are great with any % milk. I especially love a recipe that's so good it deserves repeating and so easy I can commit to memory. Well done, Valerie.

Very good! I made this for a family gathering and came home w/ an empty bowl. :) I'm southern so I added more butter and just a spoonful of sour cream for added flavor. Thanks for the recipe!

Dee-lish. I added a little more cheese because I'm from the midwest and that's what we do. I had this with green beans and brown sugar meatloaf (also from Allrecipes). Great dinner!

Awesome! This was great. My picky kid even ate it. To find different ways to make "french fries" is hard. Thanks a lot. The only thing I did different was I added minced garlic after the potatoes were done cooking and then put it all back on the stove for about five min. It will be a new fav.

Best potatoes i have EVER made!! My husband and i love these. They are great as-is, however i find myself most of the time adding about a 1/2 cup of sour cream just for the extra creaminess. I am also a garlic lover, so i do add 5 cloves of garlic with the boiling potatoes instead of three. However you customize it to your taste, this is the BEST basic potato recipe out there!!

Very good. I mashed the garlic rather than minced and I added some cheddar cheese as well as parmesan.

Eh, just okay. I followed the directions exactly and they weren't as spectacular as I hoped they would be. Oh well. Still tasted good.

These were delicious! I didn't have any parmesan cheese so I used sharp cheddar instead.

I don't really understand the rave reviews. I followed the directions exactly, and while they WERE good, they were definitely not 5-star, and definitely not as good as restaurant potatoes.

These are delicious. I made them as written and did not peel the potatoes. These tasted better than what you could get at a restaurant.

I thought they were very good. However, I used 6 cloves of garlic and should have used more. I also added fresh chives, cream instead of milk, and bits of bacon. I also left some of the skin on the redskins. I used 5 redskins and 2 yukon golds. Turned out really well and would definitely make again.

Great recipe! Was in a hurry and didn't read the directions - just the ingredients. So I crushed the garlic in my garlic press and added it after the potatoes were cooked. Also, used a bit of 1/2 & 1/2 as well as the milk. They turned out great!

This was very good, I had company over for dinner and they could not have any milk products so I put chicken broth instead of milk and put cheese on the side for those who could have it. Everyone liked it. Thank you for sharing the recipe.
