This didn't turn out for me at all. It was rubbery and not sweet enough.

You really can't alter this recipe to make it better other than add vanilla. carefully poured the batter using a measuring cup, and it came out perfect. Not only is it good with powdered sugar, but it is also great with cinnamon and sugar!

Pretty dang good. Not quite like the ones at the fair though...I think adding more sugar might make them closer to "authentic". I ate mine topped with chocolate sauce and powdered sugar and enjoyed every bite!

This is an excellent recipe. I made corndogs w/ a recipe I got from here along w/ other sides of course. And I ended it w/ a warm funnel cake. Reminded us that the fair is not too far away.

Yum! Very tasty. Just make sure you have the temp high enough or you will be disappointed. If anything, make it a few degrees higher so that when you add the batter, and the temp drops, you will still have a wonderful funnel cake.

very yummy! i make these quite often! i usually put all the batter in a very large zip-lock bag, and cut a small hole in one of the cornors, and szueeze the batter out into the hot oil. i think it works better then a funnel, and not so messy. when they're all done i cut a bunch of strawberries and cover them in a strawberry glaze (you can buy it a gorcery store) i then put them on top of the funnel cakes and then put powder sugar and whipped cream on top! just like i remember from the amuzement park! delish! thanks a bunch for the recipe!

Terrific recipe! Just be sure to "pipe" the batter (should you use a plastic bag or pastry bag) fairly thick.

Excellent recipe, easy and so good! Halfed the recipe and added flour a tablespoon at a time (took about 5 tablespoons to get right consistency. The only thing I was disappointed about was how the funnel cake turned out almost completely flat. My beautiful circular design ran together and came out as a flat pancake with an interesting swirl design. I will try using more oil next time (it doesn't mention how much so I used 1/4 cup) to see if it will float more and not be so flat. As others mentioned, it may take a few tries to get the same look as the carnival. Never the less, the taste is the most important thing and these were delish!!

This is the best!!! Tastes just like the amusement park variety. Very simple. I did find however that you must have the funnel otherwise its hard to get the thin stream of batter.

I make them this morning, my family loved them. Truly easy to make plus really fun for the kids. I added a little fresh lemon zest just to bring out the flavors more.

Wonderful recipe! I followed the directions except I doubled the amount of sugar. And as others suggested, I slowly added flour until the batter was the right consistency. Since I didn’t have a funnel, I used a Ziploc bag with the corner cut off to pour the batter. The key to making the perfect Funnel cake is pouring the mixture into the oil in a circular motion and having the oil at a very high temperature so that the cakes won’t absorb too much oil.

Really Yummy! We put ice cream (either chocolate or vanilla) and then put hot fudge and cool whip making a dreamy ice cream sunday funnel cake. Although it was really messy.

Quite delish. each one disappeared before I could add another to the plate! I had great luck using a TURKEY BASTER in place of a funnel. I did find it slightly thick but that was easy to fix by adding a tablespoon more liquid at a time until consistency is just right. I will make these again!

These came out a whole lot better than they did the first time I made them. I added a little nutmeg, vanilla extract, an extra tsp. of sugar, and more milk than the recipe called for. A zip lock bag was used to swirl the batter into the hot oil. I also scaled the recipe down to four servings and topped each with confectioner's sugar and cherry pie filling. Tasted great!

this was pretty good...despite i didn't have baking soda and granulated sugar. so instead, i used confectioners(? can't spell right)sugar. still pretty good. the batter was too thick to go through a funnel so i used a plastic bag and cut the tip. my first one i burned it tho, but the second & third turned out fine.
