SUBMITTED BY:
Martha Domeny
"No one believes these fudgy brownies--with a hint of peanut butter--are actually low-fat. They're so full of flavor, they'll satisfy anyone's chocolate cravings."

DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cocoa and salt. Stir in applesauce, egg substitute and vanilla; mix well. Pour about half of the batter into a 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan coated with nonstick cooking spray.
In a mixing bowl, combine the filling ingredients; beat until smooth. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto batter. Spoon remaining batter over the top; cut through batter with a knife to swirl peanut butter mixture.
Bake at 325 degrees F for 25-30 minutes or until edges are firm and center is almost set. Cool on a wire rack.
In a small bowl, combine the frosting ingredients until smooth. Spread over brownies.

Absolutely delicious! I did make a few modifications based on what I had in the house. I used 1/2 cup oil instead of applesauce, I used 3 eggs instead of 3/4 cup egg replacement, 1 egg in peanut butter filling instead of egg replacement, and full fat peanut butter & cream cheese. These brownies are very fudgy & moist. I had to bake these for 40 minutes though. Excellent flavor, I can't get enough!

Made this recipe exactly as it says and it turned out perfectly. They are incredibly moist and sweet enough to make everyone happy. The applesauce and egg substitute aren't even noticeable. Excellent recipe!

Weird texture...my husband who was very excited about them when he saw the recipe was very disapointed. I will keep looking for the "perfect" peanut butter brownies for him.

So good! I had a box of brownie mix I had to use, so I just used the peanut butter filling and frosting parts of this recipe. However, I did make the brownies with applesauce and egg substitute. Absolutely yummy! My husband was very happy.

I've nick named this recipe 'F5 Brownies' for Fudgy, Fudgy, Fudgy, Fudgy, Fudgy Brownies. I used fat free cream cheese and home made peanut butter. I also ended up doubling the powdered sugar for the icing, as it was too runny. My family loves these.

These were not good at all. The "frosting" was way too thin and then when we actually tried them, it was a huge disappointment. They didn't even taste like brownies. We ended up throwing pretty much the whole pan away. What a waste.

These brownies were not very tasty. I know they are low fat but I found them too bland.
