I used dark brown sugar instead of white and added a 1/4 cup of old-fashioned oats quickly run through the food processor. It is SUPER tasty. I use it on my sweet potato casserole I make for the holidays. Thank you for sharing!

This is a great topping! I don't usually use double pie crust, I use one for bottom and this for the top, comes out perfect everytime. I have used it on Opals apple pie from this sight, fantastic!!

I use Martha Stewart blueberry muffin mix and top with this. My family thinks this is the bomb. I've served these at several brunches. Everybody scoops up the mini muffins! Never have any left!

Excellent texture and very versatile base recipe. I've added ground almonds or finely chopped walnuts on occasion. I've also rubbed a strip of lemon or orange zest into the sugar to flavor it (remove strip of zest once the sugar is fragrant) before mixing the rest of the ingredients together. Thanks for sharing this!

I like to use whole wheat flour and brown sugar instead, use for all my pies as I am not a pie crust fan and like one crust pies.

A good, solid baking staple -- easy enough to double or quadruple and keep in the freezer for those last-minute fruit pies (great for the crust-challenged!). I like to mix it up by using half white sugar/half brown sugar and tossing in some rolled oats -- just whiz it around in the food processor and the work is all done for you. Easy, easy.

crumb topping is great... I use brown sugar instead of white and If I'm using the topping for pies I add some pie dough to the mix . cut it in with the butter and it adds a little extra crunch to the topping
