Made exactly as recipe stated. Mine came out a bit darker in color, I think it is because of the maple flavoring I used. After frosting them, I dusted them with icing sugar...look fabulous and will hand out for Christmas gifts! Thanks for recipe!!! This will be a annual recipe!

I only used the frosting recipe to frost donuts, but I had to add more maple flavoring because it tasted too much like confectioner's sugar when made how it is listed above. It is really up to your taste how much maple you use, but it turns out just like the frosting on maple bars at the donut shop. Good consistency!

My family loves these cookies. This recipe came from Betty Crocker's "Cooky" Cookbook. I make the frosting a little thin and then dip the cookies in the frosting. The frosting dries nicely firm. It is much easier and faster to frost this way.

My family really enjoyed these cookies. The kids loved them because they were very cake like. My husband and I agree that they were good but a little too cake like for us. We did not have nuts but we will definately add them next time. The dough worried me at first because it was so sticky but the final result was good. The maple frosting definately makes the cookie so dont try them without it. We will make these again.
