I liked this recipe a lot. They surprised me. The reason I tried it is because I needed to bring a dessert some where and this got so many great reviews. I generally don't like banana flavor. But this recipe set me straight! They were great tasting the day I made them, but I personally liked them better the next day, cold. I used Cream Cheese Frosting II to top them off. One last thing, don't forget you can microwave your banana's if they don't seem ripe enough. I had read about doing it (this recipe??), and it really worked. I broke up my yellow banana in a bowl, and microwaved it for 12 seconds. Then I mashed it. I think I ended up putting it back in for a few more seconds. The bars were great.

The first time I made these I broiled them instead of baking. Don't try this... The 2nd time I made them, they were just phenomenal. I used 4 ripe bananas and after baking, lightly dusted the tops with confectioners sugar. Really wonderful. I am craving these now!

These are just addicting. I used dairy and egg free substitutes though, to make it allergy friendly for my daughter. My husband and I can't stop eating this!!

I ran out of sour cream so I used yogurt like another review suggested and it came out really good.

I am never good at baking as I'm not a precise person, but I took the courage to make this two days ago for my family . Will be making it again today for a friend! It took almost 30-35 min for me instead of 25 to turn brown and passed the toothpick test. Not sure if it's because I kept taking it out to check when it passed the 25min mark. Well this recipe is simple and delicious for people like me. Sure boosted my confidence in baking!

delish! I followed the recipe to a T. I wish they were a little bit more bar cookie-like but they're great as is, more cake than cookie and fluffier than banana bread. I frosted them with my recipe for cream cheese frosting and shared them at work, where they were quite popular. sturdy enough to eat without a plate and fork and the recipe makes a ton so they're perfect for sharing! thanks for posting!

This is a 10 star recipe in my house! Everyone down to the 19 month old liked this. I decreased the sugar some and used 2 large bananas. My family does not like cream cheese frosting (except for me!) so I used a vanilla glaze from this site. DH said it reminded him of Entenmans Banana cake, high praise.

I was looking for something different to make with my ripe bananas and thought this sounded good. It was good but I think I will stick to my banana bread. It is definitely more of a cake than a bar. The only change I made was I added a cup of chopped walnuts to the batter. I frosted the "bars" w/ a 16 oz. container of Cool Whip mixed w/ a cup of milk and a package of banana creme pudding mix. I enjoyed the frosting more than the cake.

These are so good. I altered the recipe to 1C. brown sugar and 1.5C. all purpose flour plus 1/2C. Whole wheat flour. I baked it in a 9x13 glass pan for 28 minutes. When cooled, I just topped it with powdered sugar. It really does not need icing. It's perfect

Always a big hit--even my son, who doesn't eat cake unless it's chocolate, loves it! I used a cream cheese frosting on this website instead of the store-bought kind. It was awesome!!

MMMMM sooooo gooood! Following some ones review i cut the sugar almost in half and nearly doubled the banana amount (because i needed to use them up) and it turned out fabulous! gone in 24 hours! I had a very moist dense cake bar that tasted like bananas!

These were sturdy enough to eat with your fingers, but they lacked something in taste. They did not have a great banana taste and I somehow want to attribute that to the sour cream. (My bananas were definitely ripe enough.) The kids who ate these didn't complain, but all in all, I found them to be just OK. 4 stars may be a bit generous.

Pretty good. I put a brown streusel topping on before baking and it came out like a banana coffee cake. A nice alternative for the icing.
