These sweet potatoes are the BEST!!!! We totally looovvveee this recipe and it went into our family recipe book as a keeper because we have adopted it as one of our family dishes that we will serve many times and pass down to our children. I did only use 1c. of brown sugar because that is all I could find and it was perfect and dark brown. I did have to use a little more butter and I fried videlia onions with it which is awesome and great for a change. I toped the potatoes with the fried onions and the extra sauce I drizzled over the top. Totally awesome! Thanks so much Lisa!

I'm not crazy about sweet potatoes--but I made this dish for my family who does love them...and the kitchen smelled GREAT!! It's the same time-honored recipe my mom served us back in the 70s. My wife and son are my toughest food critics--and both RAVED how yummy the sweet potatoes were. I sampled a few and have to agree: This is a keeper.

Mine came out a little too sweet and I used half the sugar. I like my sweet potatoes sweet but my husband did not not care for it much. I will probably make it again using muchless sugar.

I made these the other night for dinner. They were delicious. I had two very large sweet potatoes so I boiled them for 15 minutes before I fried them. I also only used 1 cup of brown sugar with one stick of butter. They turned out perfect. I can't imagine using 2 cups of brown sugar.

I really think this deserves a 5 for taste, but the boiling time was seriously lacking. I had to boil the sweet potato for 15 minutes. Didn't measure the butter and sugar I used, but believe it was less than the recipe called for. A very delicious, quick (if you boil the potato ahead of time), and easy way to fix a single sweet potato without using the oven.

These were SO delicious but the boiling time was too short. I added sugar and cinnamon instead of brown sugar. Everyone LOVED them, they were just a little underdone and should be boiled longer.

These were great! So easy and quick. My picky husband even thought they were good. And my 5 year old wanted these instead of regualr fries the next time.

I will be making this often as a quick and easy way to fix sweet potatoes for my family. We loved this so much we could easily have eaten three times the amount I prepared! TIP: I sliced the potatoes into rounds while waiting for the water to boil; this shortens the cook time. Also, In a pinch, white sugar will do just fine.

Boiled potatoes longer (10 minutes). Sliced into fries and spread onto baking pan coated with Pam Spray. Mixed melted butter and brown sugar and spread over potatoes, stirring around. Sprinkled some cinnamon on top of potatoes and baked instead of frying. For the last ten minutes, adjusted oven from BAKE to BROIL. Turn over several times while baking.

Loved it! Great comfort food. My family really liked it too. I need to mention however, if you are looking for french fry type fries - this is not the recipe for you. As others have mentioned, these are carmelized sweet potates not like fries at all.
