Directions

  1. Fill a large pot with lightly salted water and bring to a rolling boil. Stir in kluski noodles and return to a boil. Cook kluski noodles uncovered, stirring occasionally, until tender but still slightly firm, 7 to 10 minutes. Drain well and set noodles aside.
  2. Place chopped bacon in a large, deep skillet, and cook over medium-high heat, stirring often, until evenly browned, 5 to 8 minutes.
  3. Cook and stir cabbage and onion into the bacon and drippings until the cabbage is wilted and tender, about 10 minutes.
  4. Gently mix the cooked kluski noodles into cabbage mixture; season with hot sauce.

I love fried cabbage & noodles, but I didn't really care for this with the bacon. Next time I'll stick to plain C&N fried in butter or just use kielbasa.

I grew up eating this basic recipe... the only small differences is we used paprika to spice things up and sauté the onions in bacon grease before adding the cabbage. Never used the bacon in the dish. (in my parents’ house there is always bacon grease around...)

This is the exact way we've always made it in my family. I also put sour cream out as a condiment to put on top

Made it just as written in a black iron Dutch oven. Worked like charm. Excellent recipe. Very tasty and makes great leftovers.
