We enjoyed this. The 5 star rating is hard to give out on some chopped up cabbage, but this was enjoyed by all.

Added chopped onion, but needed a bit more bacon. Good beginner recipe.

Yum-O!! I made this along with a meatload one night and I hardly touched the meat. Our family of 4 devoured it all up.

I have to say my husband loved this. It was a pregnancy craving for me so I didn't think he would even touch it. The reasons for only 4 stars. The vinager did absolutely nothing for me and I love vinager. Next time I make it I'm going to have more onions, and maybe add a little fresh garlic or garlic chives. Without the vinager it tastes like spring rolls.

This is very good. I will add a little more cider vinegar next time, but that is just a matter of personal taste.

Excllent recipe. My husband is usually not a cabbage fan but complimented this dish. Omitted vinegar and sugar- came out great!

I used Vidalia onions, lots of them, used cubed ham with the half the bacon... and skipped the vinegar, and it was absolutely delicious.

Really tasty!! I only had red cabbage so it looked a little funny but was tasty. Also wanted to use up a leek so I subbed it for the onion. Added a bit of spinach for iron...quite tasty!! I usually don't add salt to my dishes as I don't like much salt, but with this recipe you really need to salt it to balance the flavors...too sweet without it (then again my pinch of sugar may have been a bit large). All in all, very good recipe that is relatively healthy and tasty...great combo...my 7 year old and 18 month old liked it as well.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing. I was going to make cole slaw and instead made this. Family loved it. I didn't have the cider vinegar so I used tarragon vinegar. Tastes great.

Pretty darn tasty. I made this for a quick veggie with sandwiches. I froze most of it though for leftovers.

Simple and delicious. I never did add the vinegar, but didn't miss it. A true southern way to make cabbage. Will make again.

Excellent. Very flavorful. Balsamic vinegar is a good substitute if you don't have cider vinegar. Served with the Guiness corned beef on this site and for dessert the Irish bananas. Great meal for St. Paddy's day!

I forgot to add the vinegar but this was a hit at my St. Paddy's day dinner. Decided to cook this instead of boiling the cabbage. Instead of water I added some chicken broth to the pot. YUM!

My husband told me he did not like cabbage when we got married so I've never cooked it, until last night at our Saint Patrick's Day dinner party. It was absolutely delicious, and I added a little extra bacon. Any kind of vinegar will work; I used tarragon vinegar myself. Everyone at my dinner party raved about the cabbage and they all (including my husband) asked for seconds!
