This recipe is fantastic as is. I will be making it again! Next time I'll try using some cinnamon and maybe nutmeg at some point!

This was easy and very good. I had to substitute olive oil for the butter, but it didn't seem to matter. Following the advice of others I opted for brown sugar. I placed a sausage ring (polish, bologna, linguica) on top of the apples to steam while the apples cooked. Awesome.

I agree that they need cinnamon and brown instead of white sugar.

Without any changes IMO this is a 3 star recipe. It was too buttery and needed cinnamon. I would also use brown sugar not white sugar. I would butter the pan; then, fry the apples until juicy, add brown sugar and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

I give this one 5 stars with these adjustments: definitely add a capful or two of vanilla extract, and some cinnamon near the end. Thanks!

We made this and the whole family loved it! We cooked the apples with brown sugar and cinnamon instead, and put granulated sugar on when we were done.

Delightful ... used tart firm apples called 'Liberty' fresh from local orchard. Did not have lemon juice, used a little balsamic vinegar-- weird, I know-- but QUITE delicious.

I think we would have liked this better without the lemon juice.

I cut out the sugar and added cinnamon and a tablespoon of vanilla extract. Still came out beautifully!

10 Hours of cooking time???? I don't see how! ;>) By the way, it was easy and delicious; and it didn't take 10 hours. My girlfriend likes to sprinkle cinnamon on her applesauce, so she added it to this, too.

This was pretty good. Although, I would have preferred brown sugar in place of the white. Overall, a solid (and simple) recipe that I will continue to tweak to my tastes and make often.

I changed this to make 4 apples since my Granny Smith's were small. This was great and such a fast and easy dish to prepare. The Granny Smith's actually did not hold up very well to the carmelizing part and started gettin mushy. I've had better success with other varieties. Great recipe! This was just what I was expecting. My husband requested cinnamon on his, so I sprinked a little over it near the end of cooking. This barely served the 3 of us.

This was exceptional! I didn't have a tart apple so I used a sweet one and it was still wonderful. I cut in thinner strips, added some cinnamon and nutmeg, and ate the rings on top of buttered toast. Absolutely delicious

Thank you Mary Jane. This is a simple recipe that is easy and tastes great. I sliced my apples a little thinner and added a little more sugar and cinnamon as these apples were still a little tart and we like them sweeter but it is so good. Thanks again.
