I've used a similar recipe except I've always used 3 cups of pears. Very moist.

This was really good. I added some caramel sauce to the topping only because I had made another recipe that called for caramel sauce and I had some left over.

I was looking a for a pear cupcake recipe so I decided to use this one with some modifications. I decreased oil to 1 cup and added 1/2 c sour cream. I used only 1 1/2 c sugar and they were plenty sweet. I would consider decreasing that even more. I added 1 Tablespoon of baking powder so that they would rise. These turned out nicely as cupcakes - although they were a little more like a muffin / coffeecake than a cupcake. The batter was very soupy, but they cooked just fine - for 25 minutes on 350. Anyway, a good way to use up some extra pears (I used three pears).

Made for book club, November 2008. Very easy to make, moist and delicious. I did add ginger and nutmeg for more spice.

Wonderful Winter cake. I used a 9 by 13 pan instead of a bunt pan. The only thing to change is the amount of sugar used. a little on the sweet side but yum none the less.

Made with a few changes....1 1/2 cups of sugar instead of 2 and 1 cup of oil with 1/2 cup or so of sour cream. Also used 1 large, peeled apple diced becuase I did not have enough pears. Baked in a bundt pan and topped with a caramel frosting recipe from this site. I had one slice to try it and sent the rest with my husband to work. I thought it tasted like a spice muffin.

I added a teaspoon of nutmeg and a half teaspoon of ginger. It turns out a very spicy and moist cake that is excellent with a cup of tea. I made it for a baby shower and it was the only food that disappeared!!
