Fresh Pear Cake
SUBMITTED BY:
Frances Lanier
"When pears are in season, I love to make this family favorite. It's moist and keeps well, and makes a wonderful dessert as well as a breakfast or brunch cake."

I added a teaspoon of nutmeg and a half teaspoon of ginger. It turns out a very spicy and moist cake that is excellent with a cup of tea. I made it for a baby shower and it was the only food that disappeared!!

Made with a few changes....1 1/2 cups of sugar instead of 2 and 1 cup of oil with 1/2 cup or so of sour cream. Also used 1 large, peeled apple diced becuase I did not have enough pears. Baked in a bundt pan and topped with a caramel frosting recipe from this site. I had one slice to try it and sent the rest with my husband to work. I thought it tasted like a spice muffin.
