This salad was a hit last night. I made adjustments based on previous reviews as follows: Doubled recipe to "18" servings. Used 5 heads of broccoli. Decreased and used lite mayo to 1-1/2 cups. Decreased sugar to 1/2 cup, used 1 medium red onion. 1/4 cup red wine vinegar. Also roasted "blanched almonds" in the oven, coated lightly with olive oil to brown. Thanks for the recipe!

Thank you Nora, I was thrilled to find this recipe that I had made many times about 7 years ago. Somehow, I lost it and have seen several similar, but this is the one I had. I made it just as printed and such old memories landed on my taste buds. I am sure at our next family gathering, by family will be so happy to see this salad back on the table. I will say, after reading some of the reviews that for Christmas I will use dried red cranberries in place of the raisins, and maybe pine nuts for the almonds. How festive that sounds with the little green broccoli trees. This time my recipe will be safely guarded in my All Recipes Box.

Good recipe. I threw in some extra vinegar to keep things snappy.

I know the whole thing sounds weird, but the BEST taste!!! Family recipe for years, we use sunflower seeds instead of almonds. Always a hit!

I thought it was amazing. The more "stuff" in it the better. It was just the two of us, so there were a lot of left overs, but as the time went, the better it tasted!

Great dish for a pot luck - take the recipe with you - everyone will want it. Very forgiving with respect to quantities - can increase/decrease to suit individual tastes. I stopped measuring. Non-veggie husband requests this one - it's so good.

Awesome salad. I am making this tonight for the second time in a week. I used red wine vinegar and followed the rest of the recipe and it is wonderful. This recipe is a keeper.

This was probably the best broccoli salad I've had. I was afraid the onion would be overpowering so I only used a fraction of what the recipe called for. Delicious!

One of my all-time favourites. I have discovered over time that this salad has absolutely no need for sugar added in the dressing. I have made it repeatedly with mayo, pepper and apple cider vinegar...it gives it a great tang. You can add Splenda or a tiny bit of sugar if you like it super sweet, but it is great without too.

My sister inlaw made this at a family picnic not too long ago and it was great. The only change she made was instead of the nuts, she used sunflower seeds. I had to have the recipe and she forwarded me this one off of allrecipes.com.

Fantastic. Made a huge bowl for the 4th of July potluck and not a bite was left. Even my Grandma was impressed, and that is saying alot. My brother loved it to and he doesn't eat vegetables! I used a mixture of dried cranberries and raisins, peanuts instead of almonds and rice vinegar because it's what I had. I agree with the others about the sugar and will use less next time, especially if I'm going to use rice vinegar.

I was skeptical about this but it came out fabulous. After reading the reviews, I cut back a little on the sugar, used red wine vinegar, and sunflower seeds instead of almonds because it sounded better. I'm sure it will be a hit at work tonight. Thanks for a great recipe - I'm sure i'll be making this again.

This stuff is so good. I followed the recipe for the most part except reduced the sugar to 1/4 cup and I used red wine vinegar instead of white.
