This was a very nice recipe. I really think you need the spices. I am giving it 4 stars because I didn't really care for it my husband and children gave it 2 thumbs up. I think I may have used too thick bread for my taste! :)

Excellent! I almost gave up on making french toast, but this was great! Perfect. I will be making this again definitely! A great basic recipe. I had mine with the cinnamon syrup (recipe listed on this site) and it is GREAT.

This is a great basic french toast recipe. I like the added vanilla...never did that before. Also, a pinch of salt...hadn't done that before either. The egg to milk ratio is great.

This was a good basic recipe that you can really get creative with. I soaked my sourdough bread slices (flipping them once) for about 6 hours. It wasn't super-flavorful, but I will just have to keep experimenting with different spices. But, I will be keeping this recipe, thanks.

Very good. I made this with low-cal bread which is thinner than regular, but it still tasted really good. I also didn't add the salt in because I hardly ever add salt to anything. Will make again with thicker bread to see if it makes the difference!

Easy and simple recipe. Used cinnamon raisin bread. Served it with fresh mixed berries. Yum! Husband enjoyed it and will make it again.

I really enjoyed this recipe. I used a tbsp of butter for each slice of bread. (I cooked two at a time on a skillet, so 2 tbsp) I think the butter brings the flavor of the French Toast a little better. Also be sure to whisk the mixture often because the spices will float and the more its mixed the more even the spices will stick to the bread. Once again spot on!

Great recipe - I loved the spice combination with the vanilla. Better than just plain french toast. My son couldn't get enough.

I use either Sara Lee Brown Sugar Cinnamon bread or Cinnabon bread to make this simple recipe. I don't add the nutmeg and it still comes out really good. I cook them all on my cheap little griddle. I sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve. I never have any leftovers! I think using the Cinnabon or Sara Lee bread is really what sells the french toast, but either way, I will look no further than this recipe whenever I make french toast.

This recipe is very simple and easy to make. I always make sure that the pan is hot before adding the toast. I also cook on med heat with a lid on it. When the eggs start to turn white on one side then flip over. It wont be soggy using this method.
