Excellent recipe, thank you. I served this with barries on top with a little bit of drizzeled maple syrup

This was OK but not outstanding. If I make this again I will double the cinnamon and add a tablespoon of sugar.

Great french toast recipe! I left out the nutmeg and used texas toast slices and fried them in melted butter. Had a great flavor & all I had to do is add a dusting of powder sugar. Thanks!

It tasted like your average french toast. It was good, but not great. I included all of the optional items. I tried it at first with just the vanilla extract and the nutmeg added...it was definitely better with cinnamon. This is a good, solid french toast.

Nice and easy and a good flavor. The nutmeg is not really necessary here though...

Delicious. I used french bread, so I added one more egg and a bit more milk. I Will definitely continue to use this as my standard French Toast recipe.

I never thought to put cinnamon, nutmeg or vanilla in my french toast....man, I've been missing out for quite a few years! No more plain ol' milk and egg french toast for me.

This turned out really really good. I think I may have put in a little more cinnamon and nutmeg I also put in a pinch of salt. Its nice to have an actual french toast recipe instead of wingin it like I usually do!

This was pretty good. Cinnamon is the classic addition, but I'm partial to nutmeg. Just be careful that you don't use a heavy hand. Just a little too much of either will leave your guest with a funny look on their face...not that I would know about this of course...

Turned out ok, I had to make extra batter due to the thickness of my bread. I bought bread from the bakery at the grocery store and slice how I thick I wanted it. Also, I will turn the heat down a bit next time as the french toast cooked fast.

Yum! This is a great recipe for a weekend morning when boring old cold cereal doesn't cut it. The recipe is fairly standard, however, (I think) the vanilla makes it taste extra-special. Perfect with a cup of coffee and the Sunday newspaper.

I used texas toast bread and instead of heavy cream i just used regular milk. I also use the vanilla and add a little bit of sugar to the mix. My husband is a huge french toast lover and loves this recipe!! Thanks for sharing!

This is quite similar to the recipe I have made for years. The only difference being the nutmeg, which I found very tasty. Next time I will use ground cloves as well which was suggested by several of the reviewers. A great basic recipe. Thanks, Jan!
