I divided my dough into 4 rather than 2 more for ease of serving. Instead of brushing with egg, I misted my dough with olive oil, and it browned very well. I only have cookie sheets to bake these on, but next time I'll lightly grease the baking sheet as the bread stuck to the sheet. Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I might add some rosemary to the dough next time.

Okay, these are super easy if I can do it right on my very first try. I made sure they had a warm place to rise (on top of the oven after it had been preheated for cooking the baguettes). I didn't put any egg on them either. We really like them!

This was absolutely delicious! I did everything by hand, left out the egg wash and sprinkled with a tiny bit of kosher salt! Crust turned out nice and crispy while the inside stayed soft and moist!!! I will definitely be making this again, but will probably add about 2 tsp each of Italian seasoning and rosemary to make make herbed bread! Yummy!!!

This is the first baguette recipe I've found that I really like. Doesn't really seem to require the bread machine, I've made it without, along with omitting the egg yolk for brushing. I believe the sugar is a key to the taste. Each baguette turned out to be around a foot long. Dough doesn't freeze well so you have to bake it on the same day.

After reading reviews I had such high hopes for this recipe, alas, it was not to be. The dough was extremely sticky and despite adding almost 2 extra cups of flour impossible to work with. The loaves did not rise tall but seemed to spread out making it very flat.

Very easy, delicious bread. My only complaint is that it was a little bland. I would've enjoyed a more buttery flavor. I will definitely make again but maybe add garlic salt or butter on top.

This bread is amazing! I have tried several baguettes recipes and this one by far tops all of them. It is simple to make and perfect texture. Nice and hard on the outside and perfect soft on the inside. I made this and then cut into halfs made a butter, olive oil, garlic spread (with added extra spice, of course. ;-)) and then put back in the oven to make a fantastic garlic bred. My kids and husband loved this bread so much they requested one more batch for the next day! We made french dips with it, again perfect results. For sure a KEEPER! Thank you so much for sharing this awesome recipe!

good flavor, but it's more like a loaf of French bread than a baguette

This was even better than expected. We made sandwiches out of it. Will make again. I think it would be quicker using a kitchen aid next time instead of a bread maker.

I started to prepare exactly as directed. However, when my machine beeped for me to check my dough ball, my dough was not a ball at all - it was very much like the consistency of glue. I slowly added 4 handfuls of bread flour to make the dough ball. It worked fine although the dough was still super sticky. The bread came out fine - I brushed mine with melted butter during the last minute or two and the crunchiness of my crust was great. I'm not sure of how chewy a french baguette usually is, but mine was a little chewier than I like - could have been too much flour, could have been the way it was supposed to turn out; I'm not sure. This is a very cool recipe and ended up being a relatively easy way to make something so different than what we normally eat. Thanks for the submission!
