French Apple Cream Pie

This is a two-layered pie baked in a double crust with wonderful results. Canned pie filling is spiced up with cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon rind. Then a lemony cream cheese layer is spooned over that. The top crust is then popped on and the pie is baked until golden.

This is a marvelous apple tart that can be made in a pie plate or tart pan if you have one. A frangipane filling really brings together the flavors of fall, and the apples create a beautiful design.

A sugary and spicy syrup is cooked up and poured over sliced apples that are tightly packed into sterilized jars. Then the jars are cooled, and stored until it 's gift-giving time.
