I followed the recipe exact, only using homemade taco seasoning and all kidney/black beans only because I did not have northern OR butter beans on hand. I threw all the ingredients in the crockpot around noon and let it go for six hours. We thought this was okay--we all thought it was a little too "bean-y" but that is the recipe's intent, not a fault of the recipe. Next time, I'd add a little more spices and maybe only use one can of kidney beans and one can of black beans instead of two cans of each. This would make a good taco soup with a little more tomato juice or some beef broth added.

Excellent! I used homemade taco seasoning instead of store bought and substituted cannelini beans for the butter beans. Will make again.

Wonderful new twist on Chili! We used this for 3 days. 2nd day as a cream cheese chili dip and 3rd day as a cheese dip with velveeta!

This is a tasty recipe. I like to use bison instead of beef and everyone loves it. The kids enjoy eating it with tortilla chips.

Um, Yum!! To start with, how easy are the instructions? Brown beef, add rest of ingredients. I can do that! The ingredients? If you don't already have most of these in your cupboards, you can easily pick them up and know exactly what you are looking for. I made one change (I know, I hate it when people do this), but it really is about preference. I HATE tomato paste!! So, I exchanged it for Ro-Tel tomatoes and decreased some of the tomato juice. Also, this is not an overly hot-spicy chili, as written. It was just right for my no-spicy taste buds. But can be easily adjusted for those who prefer more kick! This is a keeper!

Excellent chili! Made this for Father's Day yesterday and he said it was perfect and I'd give Wendy's chili a run for their money (he's a dedicated Wendy's chili fan). I followed the recipe to a T, using medium salsa. It wasn't too spicy but had enough kick for everyone. I almost subbed an extra can of black beans for the butter beans but I'm glad I didn't. The variety made it a very interesting chili experience. Came together just in time and was extremely easy... (almost like a open-and-dump soup, but you DO drain/rinse the beans :P) Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because although it was fast, I like my chilis to simmer a bit longer so the flavors can mingle. Had a bit of the leftover chili over some scrambled eggs this morning and it was divine!

Very good chili, excellent comfort food. I made it with mild salsa, but you can up the heat by using hotter salsa.

I was looking for a recipe to use for Western Camp with the Girl Scouts, and this recipe looked liked it fits the bill! I tried out the recipe on my family and my daughter's friend, and got rave reviews! The key to kids liking this is there aren't any onions or big stewed tomatoes in it. I will be converting it to 200 for this weekend for camp, and I know it will be a hit. The kids Liked it! I converted it to the 175 portion, and it was still way too much. The flavor was good though, even in large quantity. I ommitted the green chilis, and used half ground chicken & Turkey. Some kids had never seen a butter bean before.

I used a can of Ro-Tel instead of the tomato sauce, and it was really good! Not too spicy for the kids, but very flavorful and spicy enough for my hot pepper hubby.
