I admit I was dubious since there were consistent poor reviews about this recipe in regards to the flavour and texture. The large number of positive ones swayed me, so I tried it. The only variations I did involved adding some chocolate chips and I did 1 TBSP vinegar vs 2 and added an extra TBSP milk to make up for it, just in case mine wound up soury tasting. My husband and son LOVED them, as did I. The texture was not so very fluffy but it was still great, and the flavour was perfect, very home-made and rich. I had a vague feeling of eating cake, too, in a good way. I'll definitely make this again, though double the recipe to feed more than two people!
