Wow! Is this GOOD! I wanted to make something special for my boys for breakfast as we FINALLY have not only cool weather, but it's also raining. I used marshmallow creme in place of the marshmallows, as I had stocked up on many jars during a good sale. All of us loved this, the grownups even more so because we added coffee! It's so easy and tastes ten times better than that packaged crud. My boys asked for seconds! I'm making this a regular winter weekend drink!

Wow. This is AMAZING! I decreased the portion size to make just one mug for me for breakfast :) I used a vanilla bean pod that I had around, (I had used the seeds a few days ago for another recipe) and threw it in with the ingredients at the beginning. I also tripled the cocoa (this is hot CHOCOLATE, after all) and added about a tablespoon of low fat evaporated milk. Oh, and I sifted the cocoa. (Important!) For everybody who says "it's not chocolaty enough", well, taste it at the end and add more if you want more! I tasted it and it was good but not quite chocolaty enough for me, so I added more. This was so creamy and so good, and so much better than the dry mix stuff in the store, which is full of saturated and trans fat (check the label). And the taste of this blows all the mixes out of the water. This is REAL hot chocolate.

It didn't take 15 minutes to make this sweet treat! I have tried several other recipes for cocoa from this website, but this is the best so far! I didn't think it was too sweet or not sweet enough - it was just right! Throw in a dash of cayenne pepper to enhance the flavor of the chocolate, and YUM-O!

I am giving this 3 stars because it gave us the AMAZING idea of melting marshmallows in hot cocoa which results in a wonderful taste and texture you won't get in other cocoas. BUT, it was not nearly chocolaty or sweet enough for our family. Try this: combine 1/4 cup of cocoa powder and 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/3 cup of hot water. Bring to a boil and boil for 2 min. Add 4 cups of milk, 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and 1 cup of marshmallows. Cook and stir over medium heat until marshmallows and chocolate is melted and incorporated well. DO NOT BOIL. Now that's a five star recipe!

I made this for my favorite kids and they loved it...so did the adults. It is very easy. I have also added some cinnamon to give it more of a Mexican hot chocolate taste...both ways are delightful.

We had a snow day today and my kids and the neighbor kids were out building a snowman. They came in and there was NO hot chocolate mix in the house. I looked here, made this recipe and they RAVED! I will NEVER buy the mix again. This is just as easy! Try it!
