Great french toast - I made it with country wheat and it turned out great! Be sure to get a good soak on the bread, not just an outside coating (be gentle after soaking!). Try a taste before adding additional butter and syrup on top once serving - the french toast is very tasty (and sweet enough in my opinion) without additional syrup. I'm also not a fan of loading up on butter if not really needed for taste..

The trick is to make sure each peice of bread is completely drenched in the liquid. i used french bread and it turned out great!

This recipe is so simple yet so tasty. I made it with my daughter this morning and she basically did the prep and I did the cooking. I followed others suggestion by adding more cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg, and dressing it up with powdered sugar, fresh berries and home made whipped cream. Pair it with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and its the perfect breakfast especially if you have 9-inches of snow outside.

Mine came out soggy, but my husband likes it that way! My batter did not make 12 slices. I may have saturated the bread too much, but still only made about 7. Good with powdered sugar on top and strawberries!

My husband made this recipe for me on Valentines Day. I loved it! He said the only change he made was he added 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg and used only 1/8 cup of flour. It was so delicious and I think I'll never be able to have plain old regular french toast again!

Ithought maybe by adding the flour it would give it something extra, but I thought it took away from the cinamon and vanilla. Kids liked it and didn't notice a difference.

Made this for breakfast this morning. Very easy recipe with basic ingredients on hand. I used old bread that wasn't soft enough for sandwiches & it worked great. Only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that I'd add a bit more cinnamon. This by far, is one of the better french toast recipes I've tried from this site.

This was really good and not soggy at all which is why I don't normally eat French toast. We used sourdough bread which adds lots of flavor and so it wasn't bland. We will certainly be making our French toast this way from now on.

This recipe turned out great. I followed another user's advice to wisk the mixture together before soaking each piece of bread. This keeps the cinnamon evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Absolutely Delicious! I followed the recipe as is, and it came out fully, and very tasty. The cinnamon flavor rose to the top of the bread, and once I added the powdered sugar, and topped it with maple syrup, it was just like the french toast at a restaurant! I will definitely make it again. Very easy, and not time consuming at all.

I have never EVER liked french toast. You couldn't get me to eat it if I was starving on a deserted island. Soggy Bread? Who would want to eat that?? But one day, my son woke up asking for French Toast, and I thought, "eh, why not. I don't have to eat it" and I found this recipe. It had me at hello. Seriously, this recipe has made me sing the praises of French Toast to anyone who will listen and has become a weekend staple. French Toast Saturday!!! Shh...the secret is in the flour.
