I know that other people have said that this recipe didn't come out soggy I don't know if I did something wrong or what but mine came out really soggy. Also, it tasted very strongly of the flour. I could barely taste the sweeter taste that I expect from french toast.

Very good! The flour does keep it from being too soggy and it comes up fluffy and fabulous. I added a splash of spiced rum and a bit of nutmeg to the batter but it would have been good without it too. I'll be using this one recipe from now on for sure.

This is most excellent french toast! It's identical to my "go to" recipe, except for the flour. However, I will be using this one in the future! It turned out fluffy, golden and delicious, and my kids devoured it (even the picky six year old!) I used a loaf of French bread that was bought a couple of days ago specifically for french toast. I only got 8 1" thick slices dipped before the batter was used up. That's the only complaint I can come up with -- there wasn't enough for seconds!

My husband made this french toast this morning at my request (he's the breakfast maker in the house). THEY WERE DELICIOUS. Everyone, including three teenagers, agreed. Best french toast ever!!!

This is delicious! I used fresh french bread sliced diagonally about 1-1/4 " thick I used my thumb as a gauge from end of nail to knuckle). Let the bread soak up all of the batter before frying. I pan fried it in butter and served with real maple syrup. Like another reviewer, I added, oh, maybe a 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract with the vanilla (for 3 servings). I also added a bit more sugar. This is a wonderful recipe that I enjoyed making and eating. Oh yes, and my husband said he could smell it outside of the house and it smelled yummy!

I always get compliments when I make this french toast. I always get an unsliced loaf of bread from the bakery, Italian, etc. and than slice thick pieces. It comes out great every time.

This French Toast came out really good. My mistake was using whole wheat bread (that is all I had on hand). Besides that I followed the recipe exactly how it said. I think i would like it even more if i used white bread. Good Recipe :)

This recipe was perfect! The french toast came out fluffy but was not too dry. Definitely a new favorite:) I added 1 tsp ground cloves and sprinkled cinnamon on one side of each slice. I had a few left over pieces, which I froze separately in sandwich baggies. I cooked them in the toaster a few days later and they were crisp and delicious. Yumm-O!

Delicious, and i used almost week-old French bread, which was almost impossible to cut into slices! It was still fluffy and soft. I won't even be trying other French Toast recipes.
