I made this recipe on a whim, and only had 1.5 cups of flour left in my pantry, so I added 1/2 c of bisquick. I did everything else in the recipe except I omitted the cinnamon, replaced 2 T butter for the shortening as recommended by a reviewer. I only had milk so used that. Baked at 400 degrees for 8-9 min. They were pale and came up a little when touched. These turned out AMAZING!! My kids were begging for more. Moist, fluffy delicious. I dipped them in butter and then in cinnamon/brown sugar/powdered sugar mixture. These were so good! I also made the glaze but the kids liked the other ones better. They were begging for more so I went and got all the right ingredients this time. I got flour & buttermilk, and used those the second time, and followed the recipe carefully. They were dense and not very good at all! Oh no! So, I'm going back to my original batch version from now on... with the 1/2 c bisquick and milk! So good! :)
