What a difference a few spices can make to simple canned soup. Make sure the onions are fully softened, before adding the other ingredients. I followed the recipe exactly, just using butter with canola oil and reduced fat milk. It took less than 10 minutes to make, which was nice, and I had it ready for a packed lunch.

Instead of garlic powder, I sauteed some fresh garlic in with the onion and butter. After tasting it, I added more basil. To make a creamier soup, I used fat free evaporated milk instead of regular milk. This was tasty--nice way to goose up canned tomato soup.

I really enjoyed this recipe for the ease of making and common items on hand. I added a dash of cayenne pepper for a kick. Thanks for the recipe. Great to make in a pinch when you dont have time to go out and get ingredients.

For tomato soup out of a can, this is amazing! Instead of using fresh onions, I used onion powder. I also added black pepper.

Really good idea. I was out of basil so I subbed oregeno instead and added some mozzerella cheese. The cheese really finished the soup.

It's amazing how a few added spices and some onions can jazz up a boring can of tomato soup. I didn't think it would taste that different, but it really did! I followed the directions exactly, but I'm not a big fan of onions, so that flavor was a little strong for me. Next time, i'll try using less onions:)

This is a great way to fancy up canned soup! I did not have onion on hand, so I used onion salt along with the paprika, garlic, and basil. It was the best canned soup I've had. Went great with my grilled cheese:)
