Simmered all day. :) Changed the tom. juice to sauce and the tom. sauce to a big can of diced tomatoes. Added a tbls or two of white vinegar, and use ground beef and sausage. YUMMY! :)

Very good chili! I made 1/2 the receipe and I didn't have tomato juice so I used V-8. After I cooked the meat, I sauteed the veggies. Added the rest of the ingredients and simmered for 1 hour.

I am a full time college student and this is one of the best chili recipes I've ever had, it was quick, cheap, filling and I had everyone in my dorm dipping into our crock pot for this chili. I added a little more chilli pepper just because I am a sucker for spice, but everything else was just perfect!!! Everything worked well in concert with each other, and it was a cheap and easy recipe to make! I will definitely add this to my routine

This is THE chili recipe! It would be great as is, but I recommend a few modifications. Instead of the tomato juice I use tomato sauce and instead of the tomato sauce I use petite diced tomatoes as others have suggested. I also use a whole green pepper and add mined garlic (fresh or jarred). For a little spice, I add chopped smoked roasted green chilies and add more cayenne pepper then in the recipe. For the beans, I enjoy 1 can of dark kidney and 1 can of black.

THis is a good chili but I only gave it a four because there are a few things that need changing. First of all,it needs some more juice,I made it as is for lunch and decided quickly that it definatly needs some more juice,so for supper I added beef broth.I left out the celery (personal taste) and like some other reviewers suggested,I upped the cayenne pepper. All in all,a good chili to have.

this is a great recipe. Hubby loved it! i made it with ground turkey sausage due to healthy eating for us and ommitted the bell peppers cause i didnt have any. I put it in the crockpot...hint...the longer it cooks the hotter it gets!

This recipe was awesome. We just finished eating. The only thing I didn't have was tomato juice, so as others suggested I substituted two cans of diced tomatoes. This is now my one and only chili recipe.

This chili was good and enjoyable but just did not have the taste like some other great chilis. I could only give this recipe 3 stars. It had a nice simple taste. I followed the recipe to a tee.

good, basic chili. just the right amount of spice for me (too much for my kids though of course). i would add another 1/2 lb. beef or maybe some sausage to mix it up. thanks.

Good as written, better if you substitute the sauce for paste or diced tomatoes. I've made this numerous times and I just add the seasonings at random, I don't measure them out (but I did the first time I made this). It's a good recipe to use if you don't want to experiment, but it's also good as a base if you want to add additional ingredients or different amounts of spices.

This chili was perfect! The only thing I did differently was add a little more cayenne pepper and everyone thought it was faculous. Having made and tried various chili recipes throughout the years, I would say this is a definite 10!

Very good... I little runny for my taste, but I will add more beans next time or take someone else's suggestion and add a can of diced tomatoes.

This a good basic chili recipe but a little too tomato-ey for my taste. I prefer more of a beefy chili.

Very good chili recipe - plenty of flavor, and just the right amount of "heat" for my taste. I followed the recipe closely (I did cook the chopped onion and pepper up with the ground beef), and the chili turned out great. I'll definitely try this one again.

I used 1/2 the called for ground beef and added another pound or so of stewing beef cut into bite sized chunks. It made the chili that much hartier, and I like the texture of cut beef as well as the ground. A great recipe for winter games or movie night with a crowd, cause it's even better done a day ahead and re heated.
