This recipe was fun and easy for the family. I did however use licorice for the stripes and thicken just the blue so it would not run. My kids loved it

This was a big hit at our Command's Memorial Day picnic. I did have to thicken the icing so it wouldn't slide off, but otherwise a terrific patriotic dessert :)

Turned out nice, but I'd appreciate any tips you all have on making red icing. I used Wilton's No Taste Red and I used a lot of the coloring, but it's still a bit pinkish.

This was the first flag cake I have ever made. My kids helped decorate and the cake was absolutely a winner at our home. This is a tradition for us now!

I made this for Memorial Day. I made the cake in a jelly roll pan. Mixed a jar of Fluff(marshmellow cream) and a softened 8 oz pkg of cream cheese together and frosted the cooled cake(left cake in pan). Used blueberries for the stars and strawberry halves for the stripes. It was ok but I think next time I will make it a strawberry jello poke cake to give it more flavor.
