this is sooooo good! The only thing I do differently is saute the fish with a little pepper in butter, garlic, and lime juice until it flakes easily (no breading)....we absolutely love these tacos! The sauce is the kicker, I've used sour cream instead of yogurt and it's fantastic! I also like to use a bag of shredded angel hair cabbage....makes it even easier.:)

Um... WOW is all I can say!!! This is easily the top 5 best meal I've ever made. We are not huge fans of fish, so I substituted boneless/skinless chicken breast and it turned out phenomenal! Other than that, followed the recipe to the letter with the exception of a few minor substitutions - cilantro instead of oregano in the sauce, no capers, 1/2 tsp cayenne. It wasn't too spicy so I think I'll add the entire tsp next time. also, used sour cream instead of yogurt. AMAZING!!! Thank you for this recipe!

This recipe was amazing! I had need made fish tacos before. The only I changed was I only had salmon so I used it instead of white fish. It was great!

These are VERY good.I made them about a month ago. I am slow on the reviews sometimes. I did not fry the fish. I coated it with cormeal and cooked it on a big electric griddle. I also used talapia. The sauce is awesome!!! I used all fat free yogurt, no mayo and whole wheat tortillas. I am making these again tomorrow.

I had downloaded, printed, and saved this recipe last year because it sounded interesting. I finally prepared it this past weekend and am sorry I did not prepare it sooner! It was absolutely awesome! My husband loved it also and it is now a favorite which I will be preparing often in the future. I followed the recipe exactly as posted here, with no changes, and would not change a thing as it is perfection! To those of you using prebreaded fish you do not know what you are missing! Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe!

We LOVE this recipe! We use lettuce instead of cabbage and we use regular tortilla shells instead of the corn shells. It is amazing.

We made this the other day and we all thought the sauce made the fish taco perfect. We left the capers out of the sauce, was still great. Also used shredded lettuce instead of cabbage. I hope to try the cabbage next time when it is just my family. Thanks for the great recipe.

Amazing! I had always wanted to try a fish taco and I'm sure glad it was this one. All I had was flour tortillas and lettuce instead of cabbage and it was wonderful. Next time ( maybe after he brings in more fish tonight ) I'll make sure to try it with corn and cabbage. I LOVED the sauce. Thanks!

This was just okay for us. I usually only try recipes that have ingredients I like and are prepared to our liking. This one sounds great but something was missing. We didn’t care too much for the batter or the sauce.

This is even better then most of the places I've had fish tacos! To make it even more quick and easy, I purchased coleslaw mix and added chopped cilantro to it. I also got some store bought pico de gallo and added fresh corn to it. This was easy to whip up in no time!

Hmmm...we weren't crazy abt. these. My bf and I have been craving fish tacos ever since making SCARY76's Fish Tacos w/ Honey-Cumin Cilantro Slaw & Chipotle Mayo a few months ago (which, for the amt. of effort involved, prod. a 'mediocre' taco in our opinion). I'm not sure whether these taste anything like Rubio's (the chain is not local to Chicago), but maybe they do (?). Truth of the matter is that you just can't beat fresh fish tacos from the little vendor stands in San Diego. My bf didn't care for the batter at all. He prefers a more flavorful, crisper batter (but he likes fish n' chips... go figure!!!). Roweena's batter is very "airy." Having said that, I didn't expect any different, but my bf had the opposite mindset. We both also felt that the sauce had little flavor (which surprised me given the ingredients). All we could detect was heat & nothing else - hardly worth purchasing a $3+ dollar jar of capers that I will likely never use again. We assembled our tacos as recommended (i.e. w/ shredded green cabbage - I snagged 1/2 a head for $.35!!!) in corn tortillas w/ fresh pico de gallo, a side of tortilla chips & Bacardi mojitos to wash everything down. Good, but not "blow your socks off good" as the ratings suggest. I'm going to try Lime Fish Tacos by Tammy Hayden next & hope for the best! Thx. for sharing your idea roweena :)

I have made these several times...love it. The sauce is the best, I don't like too hot so I don't add Jalapenos. And I have made with sour cream, yogurt...what ever I have on hand and it is ALWAYS delicious. Also when in a hurry I use frozen fish filets of course not as terrific but a great substitute when in a hurry.

The sauce was awesome. The fish itself was a little bland. I think it may be better with a marinade before the breading.

I've been searching for the best fish tacos for about three years now....I'm searching no longer. No restaurant I've been to can even come close to these fish tacos! Excellent! Will make these again and again. We just returned from the beach and brought back some Amberjack fish, which I used in this recipe. Wonderful!

Absolutely the best! I have made this recipe several times. Everyone always loves them and they are always bugging me to make them again. The sauce is so tasty. I did make them 1 time with talapia and I blackened instead of deep fried. Also excellent and healthier.

I made this for my husband on Father's Day and he loved it. He has made them in the past but this recipe seemed more authentic because of the white sauce and corn tortillas.

Fabulous! I used fresh water Bluegill for this recipe. The batter would be better on a naturally thicker piece of fresh water fish like Pike or Walleye, which we will use next time. The sauce is a perfect complement. We ran out of tortillas and finished using the sauce on the fish. Makes a great tartar sauce on it's own. I admit, I was skeptical to try this recipe, but I'm sure glad I did. 5 stars!

These were great - very refreshing! I had some frozen "beer battered cod" (already prepared product) in my freezer, so that wasn't as good - would have been better if I had hand battered it. Added cilantro to the tacos before serving. Used leftover sauce to make the tacos with grilled chicken the next day and was good with that too. Great recipe, will definitely make again.

So yummy ! We used tilapia also , store was out of cod . very very good batter for fried fish. The sauce and the thinly sliced cabbage added an extra good touch. Will be making again and again :)
