Found this to be the most interesting way to use the massive amount of weak fish my husband catches-used only 1 can condensed milk, used 1# shrimp, 1#bay scallops lots of old bay-serve with fresh bread

I have been making this recipe for the past year up at our fishing cabin in Sekiu, WA, and it is a huge hit with all our guests. DELICIOUS!

The only changes I made was adding sea scallaps as well as some cream. Oh boy was this good. Next time I'll use cheaper, smaller scallops since I had to cut them in half (so we wouldn't need knives while eating). I'll make this again.

This is the best chowder recipe we've ever tried -- it's creamy, thick, and easy to make. And even those who think they don't like seafood will like this chowder since it doesn't have a really "fishy" taste like some.

This was ok, but not exactly what I was looking for. I think I would have been better off using half & half instead of the ev. milk. Mine turned out very thin and the cod fell apart into very tiny pieces. The only thing that saved this were the scallops and shrimp I added. I think I'll keep looking but thanks!

I'm not the fish eater in my family, but my husband ate this 3 meals in a row when I first made it. He raved about it. We used halibut cheeks I bought while on a trip to Alaska, hubby says that is one reason it's so yummy - the cheeks are very rich. I accidentally bought the 5oz evaporated milk, so I supplemented with half & half! That made it even better, I am sure :)

This was very good. I used a little more chicken broth and butter then called for. I served this with homemade biscuits and my DF gobbled it up!

Made this for my husband last night, he said that it was excellent and this recipe is very similar to a soup that he used to make. I did add extras, I added a 1/2lb. of small bay scallops, 1 lb. medium shrimp, a can of minced clams and some carrots finely chopped and instead of using cod, I used fresh stripped bass ( husband & son are big fishermen). I definietly make this one again!!

Excellent recipe. Hubby had seconds. :) I threw in a small can of clams since I only bought about 1.25 lbs. of fish. I also had only about 3 c. potatoes instead of 4. Turned out great though, and not too thick. Love the low fat content!

Wow this recipe is excellent. I used more celery, three stalks, and 1 chopped onion, and thawed bay scallops. The scallops were perfect. After adding the evaporated milk I put it back on the stove long enough to heat to serving temperature. Served with green salad and toasted garlic bread wonderful. The recipe says 8 servings but this as a main course it fed 6 adults.

Loved it. I used some clams and firm white fish. I added a carrot and substituted the onion with leek. It was beautiful. Especially that it has a 1/3 the fat as most chowders!

Smooth and mellow. I did leave off the bacon, but will try it next time since it can use that extra flavor.

This recipe is outstanding. I made a few substitutions, according to what I had on hand. I used one pound of imitation crab meat and 1 12 oz. can of clams. I substituted half and half for the evaporated milk. In addition to crispy bacon and a few drops of hot sauce, I also added a bit of shredded cheddar. We all loved it! Thanks so much for the post Amy.

This was pretty good and easy to make. But both my daughter and I felt it was missing something (I even added more Bay seasoning as recomm.) Next time I make this, i'll try a little fresh thyme and use yellow skinned potato instead of regular russets and see what happens. All in all though, a good meal, will make again!

I loved this recipe. I added scallops and the whole pot dissappeared. It's not too thick. The flavor is mild and well balanced. I live in Massachusetts and have had many different "chowdas" and this one is excellent.

We aren't fish lovers, and all I had was frozen salmon. This dish was good although a little fishy for my taste. I'd imagine with a nice cod it would be great.
