I thought it needed some salt; so I added a bit when the meat was browning and a little when I added the other spices. It was a great chili recipe. Loved it!!

I love this recipe. I used the cheapest ingredients, the whole pot cost me about $5 to make(not counting the spices and vinegar which I had on hand) and it tasted delicious. Low cost, low fat, high protein and delicious. Can't beat that.

Great recipe. The only thing I would change is the addition of more tomotoes. I also added corn. Yummy!

I love this chili! I don't like kidney beans at all, so black beans are a welcome change. It's also lighter made with turkey. I find this recipe to be incredibly easy to make, high in protein and lower in fat for when we are watching what we eat, and a good choice when I have no idea what to make for dinner. Serve it up with some sour cream and cheddar! Excellent!

I'm giving this 4 stars because it really does require MORE SPICE/HEAT! I made it as written, and my kids loved it, but anyone over 12 will want more heat. I just added more chili powder and some salsa after serving my kiddos.

I have made this (along with several variations) dozens of times, and it has always been a success. I also like to add extra types of beans, and sometimes more heat, but the vinegar is the key to this recipe. Thanks!

We thought this was okay but needed more "spice". It was low on taste for chili. I added a can of corn to add some color & texture which helped.

This recipe improves mightily with additions. On it's own, I found it was too sweet, too much oregano and too much tomato taste. It was bland and very disappointing, given it's reviews. Reviewers, please rate the recipe as written. Reviewing your own mods confuses the heck out of it. My (vegetarian) mods: + 1 tbsp cumin 1 tsp salt 1 pinch chili flakes sub veggie crumbles for ground turkey

loved it. changes: i used 28 oz. of crushed tomatoes, a small can of sweet corn, a shake or two of cumin, and doubled the chili powder. i subbed kidney beans for one of the cans of black beans (just for variety). this made probably 7 or 8 large servings.

Wow, this was fantastic! I used a can of pinto beans instead of one of the cans of black beans for a bit of variety. As one of the other reviewers mentioned I also added some cumin. This will definitely be a regular on my menu.

I doubled the garlic, used 1.3 pounds ground turkey, added 2 tsp. cumin, increased the chili powder to 2 tablespoons and added one can of Rotel. It was spicy but not overly so. As suggested by others, I think an addition of some celery and green bell pepper would be nice.

This recipes was AMAZING! I did NOT follow it to a T though, only deviating to increase the amount of chili powder to give it more of an "umphf." I also used 3 kinds of fresh peppers, (red, green, and jalepeno), fresh tomatoes, fresh onion and celery, tomato paste, a cup of salsa, a can of undrained corn, black pepper, extra garlic, onion powder, basil, and oregano. I also used 1.3lbs of ground turkey as that is the only way I can buy it at my local grocery. This is an extremly nutritious recipe, it made enough for us to eat for a week, and my husband and I LOVED it! (Sorry not trying to be rude with the modifications--I just tend to "play" whenever I am in the kitchen) This was bang up! A MUST TRY!

I have to say that this is something I will always make a day ahead. While I was cooking it I wasn't impressed, actually I was dissappointed! I figured that we were going to toss the leftovers after we ate it the next night. Well I was wrong! The flavors melded together very nicely and we all loved it! I doubled the recipe, but I did not double the beans. 6 cans for 2 pounds of meat seemed too excessive. I could have added one more can, but was glad that I didn't increase it to 6. This way flavor of the turkey was not overpowered by the beans. Thanks for the recipe!

I find it really annoying that people consistently score recipes based on their own modifications. This recipe is BLAND! The selling point is that it is healthy and simple. Adding a great deal of spice and ingredients (which would increase the prep time) will make this a lot more complex and exciting, but alone the recipe is simply mediocre.

I made this strictly for my boyfriend because I am not a chili eater, or at least, I wasn't until I tried this. I hate the way black beans look, so I only used 1 can and 2 cans red beans. I went with the other reviews and used 28 oz. of the crushed tomatoes and added a little extra garlic and some red pepper flakes. It was amazing! My boyfriend loved it and he knows his chili! I was even tempted to try it and to my surprise, it was quite good with some saltines mixed in. Not too spicy, but had just enough kick. I found the flavors mixed well together after cooking for 4-5 hours. Very good recipe that I'll use again!
