INGREDIENTS
1 cup shortening
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
FROSTING:
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup peanut butter
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dash salt
ICING:
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips, melted
2 tablespoons milk

DIRECTIONS
In a mixing bowl, cream shortening, peanut butter and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in milk and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
Roll into 1-in. balls. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees F for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks.
For frosting, cream butter, shortening, peanut butter and confectioners' sugar in a mixing bowl. Beat in milk, vanilla and salt until smooth. Frost cooked cookies. Combine icing ingredients; drizzle over frosting.

These cookies are quite delicious. I think that extra egg does help, especially if you don't plan on frosting the cookies. Thank you for sharing your recipe!

These cookies tasted amazing! I had to add an extra egg to get them more chewy but I also used fresh ground peanut butter instead of store bought so that was probably to compensate for the dryer peanut butter. I also took the cookies out of the oven when they just started to brown on the edges, not when they were golden brown as the recipe stated. I didn't have time to make the frosting or icing but the cookies turned out really great. Will definitely make again!
