This is an excellent recipe. The cake came out so moist and was probably the most moist chocolate cake I had made or tasted. I followed the cake recipe exactly and I didn't experience any spillage. However I did cut the frosting by half and had exactly enough for the cake. Thank you for the wonderful recipe. This is definitely a keeper.

This cake recipe is the exact recipe off of the Hershey's Cocoa tin so when you get cocoa just get hershey's and read the recipe from there.

Excellent crumb and texture. Very rich chocolately taste. I was skeptical because of how thin the batter was, but it was perfect. I frosted with eggnog frosting on the top. Delicious.

This was the best cake I'd ever tasted! I'm positive those folks that gave this cake poor reviews did something very wrong! Don't believe them! I followed the recipe exactly. I have a history of making barely edible cake, so this was going to be my last time trying for real home made. Wow, with each bite, I'm amazed that I made something this good! Thank you, thank you, thank you for this recipe!!!

Oh my what a cake! I'm a big fan of chocolate cake and this is by far the best I have ever made! I have made it several times now, and it comes out perfect every time. It's best eaten 2-3 day's after baking, then it tastes really moist, like chocolate brownies. I also add 100g of choc chips to the recipe. I'll never bake another choc cake again!

Really moist and delicious. Instead of a cake I made muffins. It makes 24 muffins, and they baked for 20 mins. I made as directed except I added 1 1/2 tsp of instant coffee to the boiling water. These were very good and I will make it again.

Very good cake...VERY chocolatey. The frosting is wonderful, but I might try it with a cream cheese frosting the next time around...just to break up the chocolate.

I was a bit disappointed in the taste of this cake but one thing for sure, it came out nice and moist and rich in colour. For some reason, I didn't find the taste to be very chocolatey. It seemed a bit bland but maybe it's because I didn't use Hershey's cocoa powder (although what I did use - Fry's - is supposed to be a premium cocoa powder...). Also, I have never made cake with vegetable oil before, but this one definitely had a distinctive taste and aroma that could only be described as odd which I'm sure was due to the oil. I don't think I will make this again and if I do, it will be with many changes - butter instead of vegetable oil, 1/2 coffee 1/2 water, 1/2 brown sugar 1/2 white.
