good sauce, didnt use the anchiove and only one tsp honey. also sauteed some onion and carrot in oil, then added spices to toast, then can of crushed tomatoes and some chicken broth to replace water. used fresh basil, thyme and rosemary.

Very nice sauce. I didn't have anchovy or marjoram but otherwise followed the recipe. Very tasty but light. I liked the texture on my ciabatta bread pizzas. Not over powering like some other sauces can be.

Unique blend. My family liked it. It had both a touch of sweet and spicey. I did not add the crushed red pepper as I didn't want to be too spicy for my kids, but will probably throw in a dash next time.

Excellent sauce!! I did leave out the anchovy paste as it's not something I have ever used, so did not have! I also realized I had no marjoram...don't recall ever having used it either! Regardless, this sauce has a great spicy kick and it was very yummy on our pizza! Not much better than homemade sauce and dough for your weekly pizza!

My family loved it. It was sweet yet had a bit of a kick. Unlike a previous reviewer, I thought the recipe made plenty of sauce for a good sized pizza (I made a jellyroll pan sized pizza).

FANTASTIC SAUCE!! Hubby and I LOVED this sauce - kids are 3 and >2...so not sure they have opinions yet!! Definite keeper - didn't use anchovy paste and added a dash of garlic salt..For those who thought it was too runny - just don't use the full amount of water...think I still had a little left in cup. Thanks for sharing!

Every Friday night we use to buy frozen pizzas. Now that I have this sauce...NO MORE! So inexpensive to make and just as delicious. Thank you for helping me save a buck or two!

I had no expectations from this, as I've only used it since I forgot to buy sauce and only had paste on hand. Boy was I wrong! We used about a teaspoon of worcestershire sauce in place of the anchovy paste, to great success. I will never buy pizza sauce again!

This is a great sauce recipe! I omitted the anchovy paste, marjoram and cayenne pepper (didn't have these ingredients on hand) and added 1/2 tsp kosher salt to the mix. One batch of this is more than enough for one pizza. It tasted wonderful - no need to find another pizza sauce recipe!

This sauce was wonderful. I used brown sugar instead of honey and I did not add anchovy paste as I didn't have any on hand. My husbands pizza was almost perfect but the sauce just wasn't quite right. This was the recipe we needed to make it the perfect pizza.

I followed the recipe exactly except I did not use the optional anchovy sauce. I thought it was wonderful, I kept eating all by itself before I used it in my recipe. This is truely an Exquisite Pizza Sauce!

This is the 1st time I am rating an all-time low 1-star recipe at All Recipes and I don't think it really lift up to the high rating! I followed recipe to T. except doubling the serving thinking that I could use it later for more pizzas upon seeing the exceptionally high rating. The sauce was too watery and bland hence it went straight down to the crust upon spreading! I had to make another batch of sauce for 2nd and 3rd pizzas! I definitely will not make it again!

My kids liked it! I'm always looking for ways to get back to the basics and save money, and this recipe works, and it tastes great, too. I substituted sugar for the honey but will put honey on my shopping list and try it next time. I omitted anchovies and used Chef Paul Prudhomme's Pizza Magic seasoning. I also added a little more water to get the consistence I was looking for. I'm happy to find a recipe I can make for 50-75 cents or less as opposed to $2-$3 for a can of store bought pizza sauce. Less sodium, too.

I'm only rating this a 4 star right now since I've not tried any others. But I found this one and it's amazing even before we start tweaking it. We found it a little too sweet, but think that might have been because we used Contadina tomato sauce. We're trying it with Hunts tonight to see if it's mellower on the sweet. Then to tweaking!
