I have been a horrible failure at most of my pastry attempts. While these didn't turn out as "flaky" as I'd hoped, they tasted delicious!

Funny, I got this same recipe from my grandmother whose name is also Evelyn. These always remind me of visiting my grandparents as a child. These twists can be a bit tedious and require planning ahead but are so worth it. It is also important to not over bake these.

My Grandapa was diabetic and my mother made a similar dough and instead of the sugar filling we used diatetic jam and crushed nuts. Still awesome and EVERYONE could enjoy them. Your kids will never know the sugar is missing cause of the cream taste in the dough and the jam filling!
