"This is a combination of several fresh fig appetizer recipes. The flavors of fresh figs, tangy goat cheese, salty almonds, sweet honey, and balsamic vinegar contrast to make these a delicious and very pretty appetizer. Arrange figs in a circle, tops facing in, for a flower effect and this will be a lovely addition to a bridal shower menu! If you can find Marcona almonds, use them! They are a Spanish almond that tastes like a cross between an almond and a cashew."

I used dried, pitted figs instead of fresh, and sprinkled pre-sliced almonds on top, and it was still absolutely tremendous! Plus, it was only a matter of minutes to prepare and a breeze to serve. This will definitely be a new "go to" recipe!
These were just ok for me and my party-goers. You must really love fig to be a fan of these. I liked the concept but found the fig texture to be somewhat off-putting as did my guests. The warm fig as a cracker was just sort of odd and unappealing. I would make these again but I would make a fig spread instead and layer the remaining ingredients atop crostinis. I also used a balsamic vinegar glaze instead of straight balsamic vinegar which people liked.
made tonight . loved them. used feta instead of goat, due to price at grocery store. Feta less expensive.
Don't plan on this recipe before you find out if figs are in season. I used dried, but I'm sure they tasted nothing like they were suppose to. Who knew figs weren't available all the time....
This is simple and delicious. The only goat cheese I could find was sweetened - with honey. It all worked well together.
I always sprout almonds before cooking with them - that is, I wash and soak them in water and a dash of sea salt the night before, then rinse before using. This makes the almonds creamier and tastier!
OMG! these are amazing, must try. Found this a couple months ago for some left over goat cheese I had in the fridge, I have made them several times since then and I crave them often.
I forgot to put use the balsamic vinegar on but I recieved complements on these "gourmet appetizer" at the wine and cheese party I brought these to! I also used plain goat cheese because that was what I could find. I will be making this again!
Pretty dang good! Only reason I put it a four was my own fault.....couldnt find fresh figs so I had to use bagged prune style figs. Didnt look too pretty, but still tasted amazing!
