I love this recipe. This is my "Don't want to cook" dinner. Perfect as is, but for my personal preference, I sautee garlic and onion, add frozen peas, and also add a little milk. As with any recipe, we all have different tastes. My seasoning includes salt, pepper and garlic powder (obviously I love garlic). The fried onion on top makes this recipe.

I followed this recipe to the letter, even used 3 cups of uncooked macaroni noodles and my family loved it. I did serve it with a dash of shredded parmesan cheese (not the dried stuff!) and it just added to the wonderful flavor. My husband agreed that this recipe was way better than the tuna casserole I normally serve and my three children (ages 8 and 11) liked it too!

5 stars for simplicity and I liked the idea of using french fried onions since I was out of bread crumbs. Alterations: I had no cheese but I did have two boxes of mac-n-cheese. Added some chives, celery, pepper, and parsley. That was it. Thank you, because my boys who are 6 and 4 years in age give me daily grief when it comes to meals, they hate this!! ;)

I agree this is a good basic recipe, and because it is basic it leaves room for experimentation. In my case, I added a cup of frozen peas because I don't feel that it is a proper tuna casserole without them! I also increased the amount of tuna and noodles to two cans and 4 cups, respectively. Since I increased the dry ingredients I added 1/4 cup milk. I didn't have FF onions, so I made breadcrumbs with whole wheat bread, olive oil, and garlic powder. Very easy and tasty dish!

Don't use too many bread crumbs. It will make it taste crumby.

The handiest tips I gathered from pouring through the reviews -- 2 cups uncooked macaroni = 3 cups cooked as called for; and, 1/2 soup can of milk made a great consistency. Excellent -- comfort dining at its finest!

i added a can of mixed veggies and used crushed plain potato chips instead of french fried onions. Along with some seasonings (salt, pepper, garlic powder) it was very good.

Good quick weeknight recipe. Didn't have any of the french fried onions, but still turned out ok. Also used cr of mushroom soup instead, and added some frozen veggies. Quick and easy.

My husband hates traditional tuna casserole. But he devoured 3 helpings of this the first time I made it. My 1yr old also loves it. Definitely a winner!!!

I agree that when people make major changes to a recipe and review it ... it is silly! BUT I do like it when most reviews say things like "too dry" and others give advice to add milk. I followed recipe exact (but added 1 1/2 cup of milk) and found this recipe good. Not great - but good and a bit bland for me.

It is definetly comfort food! I would make it again only next time and I can't believe that I'm going to say this but, I would use less cheese.

I reviewed this ages ago. I have no idea where my review went. You can pretty much use an array of cream of soup in this recipe. I will sometimes use cheddar cheese. My kids favor this for a quick dinner on it's own, I like it with steamed cauliflower or shredded raw coleslaw mix stirred in. Most of the ingredients for this can be bought on the cheap from a discount grocery store or dollar store.
