Sour Cream Raisin Pie III

This version of a classic pie is wonderfully spiced with nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon. The spices are stirred into a sweet sour cream and raisin filling that is poured into a pastry crust. The pie bakes in under an hour and is best served warm with whipped cream.

The filling for this pie is a thick and creamy custard studded with raisins. There 's sour cream, sugar, nutmeg, eggs, lemon juice and a bit of cornstarch in this filling. Once it 's cooked and stirred until thick, it 's poured into a prepared pie shell. The pie is then topped with a lovely brown sugar meringue.

Cream is soured with a bit of vinegar, and combined and cooked up with lots of yummy ingredients to make a thick, creamy custard. Plumped raisins and vanilla are stirred in, and then the filling is cooled, poured into a prepared pie crust, and topped with a lovely meringue. Bake until golden.

Cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, sour cream and lots of raisins make this custard pie special. Everything is stirred together in one big bowl, and then the mixture is spooned into a pastry shell and baked. Let the pie cool and serve it with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

For my family, this pie is as essential for Thanksgiving dinner as turkey, dressing and mashed potatoes! I've been told this recipe's been in the family since the 1860's.
