I really enjoyed these pickles. The flavour was not overpowering. I even enjoyed eating the onions (which became pickled as well!).

I would completely omit the cloves if I tried this again. I only added 1/8 tsp to see how it tasted and it overwhelmed the brine with just that small amount. I added more vinegar and water to try to dilute it, but it was still too much. (This also helped to make more brine as I didn't have enough to cover the cucumber slices, even with this added liquid) I would definitely cut back on the sugar. I started with less than called for just to taste, maybe half, and it was too sweet even after diluting. I added some minced garlic and crushed red pepper and used pickling spices instead of mustard seed (it's mostly mustard seed anyway.) The main downfall is those cloves, just too powerful, but I might try again with my alterations.

A great & easy pickle recipe. I used 2 slightly heaping tsp. of pickling spices instead of the individual spices listed and also added some diced sweet red pepper for extra color and flavor. Next time I will add a little cauliflower too. Very pretty pickles and pretty darn good too! A+++++

Yummy. I used the celery seeds but did not have all the other spices so I substituted 2 teasp. pickling spice. They were very crunchy. I sliced the cukes with a food processor and were very thin. Next time I think I will follow others' advice and slice them thicker.

Good. Only used 1/2 cup sugar (it was plenty sweet) and will reduce it more the next time - probably 1/3 cup. I will delete the cloves next time as well.

Very good. I sliced them on the thinner food processor blade since I didn't have but one day before the party, but I think next time I will use the thicker slicer. These get better the longer they "cure" in the fridge. Very refreshing on my salad buffet before high school graduation.

These were really good! Super cruchy and sweet with some tang to it. I left out the cloves, as one of the other reviewers did. Next time I will add minced garlic as another reviewer posted. Thanks for the EASY recipe!!

They are the BEST pickles out there! I didn't put in any cloves but added 1/2 tsp of pickling spice. One tip: I stuffed some old mason jars (2) with the cucumbers and onions, (You can use an empty spaghetti jar) and then poured the liquid inside. Closed the lid tightly and turned the jar upside down so that the top cucumbers would sit in the juice. You can turn the jar back over after the first serving of pickles. A must try if you like a sweet pickle.

Added 2-3 Tablespoons minced garlic and 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes to make it a little zesty. Perfect amount to store in a 1 gallon freezer bag in the fridge.
