The first time I made this I made it exactly as the recipe stated, except I didn't add rosemary (I don't like rosemary.) It was very good only a bit too watery...I like a really thick sauce. The next few times I made it, I added only 1 cup of water. What a difference! The sauce was nice and thick like I like it.
Today, I was able to make the sauce with fresh basil and oregano from my garden, and the fresh herbs added such a wonderful flavor! If you have the chance to use fresh herbs, you'll be really amazed at the difference!
The recipe stands on it's own as a great recipe..I say try it! If you make it "as is" you'll have a great pizza sauce. It's better than the pizza places in my town, and my family prefers homemade to delivery any day! And with a two minute prep time and NO COOKING, who can beat that!?!
