Easy Pasta Alfredo

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 (19 ounce) package frozen cheese tortellini

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat. Add cream and nutmeg; heat through but do not boil. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted. Cook tortellini according to package directions; drain. Transfer to a large serving bowl. Add the cheese sauce and toss to coat. Serve immediately.

Excellent!!! My husband and son asked me to double the recipe next time. The only change I made was to add a 1/4 tsp of garlic powder. It was Awesome! Thanks for sharing.

Works better in a double boiler. Heat the butter first, then add the cream, and after that the parmesan. Very simple sauce and a classic, first developed by Alfredo of Rome, I believe. For an interesting twist, steam broccoli florets and then add to the Alfredo sauce over cooked pasta. Rather than frozen tortellini, I prefer fresh Spinach pasta from the health food store.
